I've been saying this since 2019 - Patriots receivers are NEVER wide open like you see so many times on other teams. I'm not talking busted coverage wide open, I mean "wide" open like when Edelman would be coming across the field with a guy 3 yards behind him and Brady would him him 8 yards past the LOS and Edelman would take it another 10 yards. I'd get banned and pilloried from pillar to post for simply pointing out the fact that (in 2019), a receiver corps of an old and injured Edelman, Sanu, Harry, and Dorsett is not an NFL caliber receiver group. And it was an insult to the greatest of all time qb to saddle him with such a sad sack group. Now of course, Krafty Bob and Bill the GM tried to augment that sorry group with drug addict Josh Gordon and Antonio Brown - but Gordon couldn't lay off the weed, coke, booze or whatever he was doing and Krafty bowed down to the media and cut Brown.
And now this bozo coach has set up Mac Jones with a probably inferior group than the 2019 island of misfit toys. This all goes back to the fact that Bill the Coach does not value speed, skill and athleticism as much as he values guys who do what they're told and don't talk out of school (example - buh bye Bourne and extension for Parker).
The offense will not improve to the point where it is competitive in the AFC until Belichick is fired or he finally puts resources into legitimate pass catching talent.
This current group of pass catchers is far better than the 2019 group that finished the season throwing passes to Elandon Roberts and starting 50 year old Ben Watson at TE. Gesicki is their number 5 option right now, he'd get 100 targets on that team, they had nothing aside from an Edelman that was so banged up and broken down his willingness to be available for them that year likely cost him his career.

Even with all those issues, if the 2023 Patriots were scoring at the same rate as the 2019 team on a per drive basis, they'd have 43 extra points in these first four weeks. Make of that what you will.

The Patriots have the worst win percentage in the league as underdogs since 2021 and also the worst percentage of games covering the spread as underdogs in that time frame. If they're not favored, they basically can't win. Can't overcome any talent deficit whatsoever. Let's see if they can change that trend in this game against a team that's basically a carbon copy of them and will be favored by the thinnest of margins.

Who is at QB for the Saints? Is Carr healthy from the AC joint sprain?

Groh is supposed to be the voice of reason with drafting players.. the issue is he is part of the BB circle of friends and family... we NEED someone with no ties to BB to be able to pick, sign players. BB as we all know with his power is going to target players he feels can fit in his system. We have a early 2000s NFL roster not a 2023 roster. I absolutely respect BB the HC but I've soured on the GM .
@Cap'n

Nucua has more yards receiving than any WR & TE combined on the roster right now. If BOB and BB are smart men wich I think they are.. start Douglas over juju or Parker.

OT:
I wonder why Bill and his draft guru/yes men didn't appreciate the talents of rookie WR Pacu Nacua who was drafted at #177 (5th rd)?
Interesting reading about this guy. Sounds like Cooper Kupp was a major mentor for him, and the wisdom apparently took. Reminded me of Andre Johnson to DeAndre Hopkins or (on a much much lower level) JMeyers learning from Edelman (who learned from Welker).

“I’m trying to worry about what I’m doing and [Kupp]’s talking about knowing what I can get the DB to do,” Nacua [said]. “That was the first time I was like, ‘Holy cow, his ability to understand.’ ”

It's good the rookies have someone like Parker to learn from on how to separate and get open.

After Sunday it's BB vs Two McDaniels' with Buffalo sandwich in the middle. What's with BB and these McDaniels'??

Bill can't beat either of those two, that's what's with 'em.

Bill's smart but he's also stubborn - one need look no farther than SB52 for proof... Maybe the pressure of the home crowd will compel him to adjust the personnel, so we'll see...

Get K Boutte out there too if he had nailed those two toe taps in bounds he would be active now.

As smart and cerebral BB is he's great at ignoring. We know he ignored the scouts wich in turn led to the poor drafts that RK acknowledged. What will prompt changes is when the stands are half empty and the concessions take a hit.

Right now he has a pretty long rope.... so we'll shall see as you've said.

McDaniels know this is his last Head Coaching gig if the Raiders implode. Wouldn't mind McDaniels here as a OC come home Josh.
I always thought McDaniels was only marginally more talented at OC than Patricia was at DC. Didn't like either. But I'd take McDaniels back in a heartbeat.

if things go sideways, and the Foxboro Boo Birds take flight Sunday, don't forget the 80something year old owner seems preoccupied with **** like this than with building a winning team

Oh come on, he wore Nike Air Force Ones to his wedding and gets them custom made all the time (just like every person in the world can do on the Nike website).

That isn't enough street cred for ya? I know hip when I see it. Custom Air Force Ones in a suit yo! Thats the real Robert Kraft in that picture.
