I haven't listened to his podcast from today, but he has been trashing the receivers for not getting open. He doesn't take the blame off of Mac, but he blames the receiver inability to get open too.

BTW, Bedard has said the same thing although he blames the o-line more.

I've been saying this since 2019 - Patriots receivers are NEVER wide open like you see so many times on other teams. I'm not talking busted coverage wide open, I mean "wide" open like when Edelman would be coming across the field with a guy 3 yards behind him and Brady would him him 8 yards past the LOS and Edelman would take it another 10 yards. I'd get banned and pilloried from pillar to post for simply pointing out the fact that (in 2019), a receiver corps of an old and injured Edelman, Sanu, Harry, and Dorsett is not an NFL caliber receiver group. And it was an insult to the greatest of all time qb to saddle him with such a sad sack group. Now of course, Krafty Bob and Bill the GM tried to augment that sorry group with drug addict Josh Gordon and Antonio Brown - but Gordon couldn't lay off the weed, coke, booze or whatever he was doing and Krafty bowed down to the media and cut Brown.
And now this bozo coach has set up Mac Jones with a probably inferior group than the 2019 island of misfit toys. This all goes back to the fact that Bill the Coach does not value speed, skill and athleticism as much as he values guys who do what they're told and don't talk out of school (example - buh bye Bourne and extension for Parker).
The offense will not improve to the point where it is competitive in the AFC until Belichick is fired or he finally puts resources into legitimate pass catching talent.

Not 100% no.. but they assume a bulk of the responsibility.. the Job of the O-line is to block, create holes In the run game. Now Mac was just trying to make a play.. he seemingly got panicky and was making throws across his body. It was just a total team loss. Other than KB there is no one separating for him. Zo was saying in the broadcast that the scout report on the offense is play man on the WRs and play up at the line to handle the run. Thornton can really aid this offense when he returns. He and Douglas need to be involved heavily. Only thing I can think of to help this offensive offense right now.
Why are they not promoting reagor now. I think we just need to go gang busters with fast players. Get two blocking tight ends and run plays with Douglas, Thornton and reagor/ Marcus Jones. Get creative. If they decide not to blitz , the two tight ends can escape pocket catch the screens and get 8 yards.

Belichick used to value quick, but not fast receivers. Receivers who could get open quickly and get YAC. But he never liked the burner. In recent years, he hasn't been getting those types of WR. None of the current group of WRs seem to consistently know how to run good rub routes to get receivers open quickly. You don't see the crossing patterns that was Brady bread and butter anymore.

And he hasn't had a receiving 3rd down back since White got injured in 2020. Another staple of the Patriots' offense (Faulk, Lewis, Woodhead, and White).

The ironic thing is that not only is he not adapting to the new NFL, but he doesn't really get the receivers that fit in well in the traditional Patriots offense. Their primary receiver is a slower possession receiver who is more of 50-50 type who can fight for the ball in coverage rather than getting open.

Agreed! BB/BOB are going to have to make some decisions.. Parker and juju are not helping. Reagor/Thornton/Douglas/KB should be inserted in the lineup of at least play significantly. Something has to give.. RKs Franchise was embarrassed Sunday. The more we look like this the more criticism on BBs legacy. In a perfect world I'd want BB to be my HC, and someone else not connected to the organization to be the GM. I'm thinking there has to be a change on offense? There just has to be right?

Play the youngsters. HOU is playing a pile of rookies and they're doing pretty well. I've already written off the season; at least entertain me, give me a reason to tune in the games.

Yes, Houston young QB has gotten better each week.. Mac has regressed each season.. at least play the young guys and see what you have going forward.. no matter how this season ends.. there will be significant change come the off season..

Reagor isn't any better than the crap we already have. He's a megabust...

I don't know that he's a bust.. from what I hear it was some questions about his maturity.. he clearly in his short Time in the NFL did more than any other patriots draft bust. Only way to know for sure is have him have an opportunity.. he has elite speed.. speed is what we sorely lack

He's definitely a bust. His WR skills are awful. He apparently had a good 40 time at one point in his life, and thats the best thing going for him.

Ok. I know he was highly touted coming out the draft.. I just need to see it for myself.. right now we have a bunch of bust at WR.. so in that case we definitely don't need another.

Let me ask. BB always says.. the guys that practice well get the opportunity.. so is it that our WR'S play well in practice and just can't transfer it to game days?

Writing off the rest of this season to spare myself stress/negativity. Hoping for as high of a draft pick as possible, basically my only rooting interest in 2023.

Wow What kind of fan are you?

He might be able to get some time, our WRs are just so painfully undynamic that he can fit the mold well. He won't make anything better though.

I've posted that.. Douglas, should be starting.. he is the one guy thar can separate and has big play ability.. I'll get excited about Thornton when I can see him stay on the field. But we just need separation at WR.. I like our TEs .
