It's stupid.
You've got 4 minutes left.It isn't stupid at all. If you have a team that requires "momentum" and missing the 2 pont conversion causes them to not play as hard, then you have other problems. Down 15, scoring a TD, going for 2 on the first touchdown is absolutely the right call logically. It's better to know as soon as you can whether or not the 2 point conversion will succeed or fail.
How so?
I think the Raiders will give them a game if they make it. Steelers not so much.
Exactly. The opposing team can take the air out of the ball. It's game over. Your chances are so much better if you keep it a one score game. You put yourself in a "must make" situation before you need to. Furthermore, if you fail, you not only lose momentum, but you allow the opposing team to play differently than if you were still within one score.

If you miss, you have to go for an onsides kick.
If you go for 1, you can kick off, and the opponent will be forced to throw and probably stop the clock on an incompletion.
It's really really dumb.
You lose. What happens if you kick the extra point, then score another TD with 20 seconds left and fail on the two point conversion? Now you have no time. It's a crappy situation if you miss the 2 point conversion either way, but I think it's a little better to know whether or not you'll miss it, as soon as you can figure that out.
If any coach is dumb enough to it's this guy. They will go for 2 after TD
