From CBSSports.com. Boy, it's gonna hurt me to root for IND, but I'll have to do it this once. And putting it all together I think this also means that if DEN loses to KC and MIA beats BUF, DEN is eliminated.

Relevant games:
NYJ@NE
MIA@BUF
IND@OAK
DEN@KC
BAL@PIT
CIN@HOU
TEN@JAX

AFC SCENARIOS:
NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS

New England can clinch home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs with:
1) NE win + OAK loss or tie OR
2) NE tie + OAK loss

OAKLAND RAIDERS

Oakland can clinch the AFC West division title and a first-round bye with:
1) OAK win + KC loss or tie OR
2) OAK tie + KC loss

PITTSBURGH STEELERS

Pittsburgh can clinch the AFC North division title with:
1) PIT win

KANSAS CITY CHIEFS

Kansas City can clinch a playoff berth with:
1) KC win or tie OR
2) BAL loss or tie

HOUSTON TEXANS

Houston can clinch the AFC South division title with:
1) HOU win + TEN loss

MIAMI DOLPHINS

Miami can clinch a playoff berth with:
1) MIA win + DEN loss or tie OR
2) MIA tie + BAL loss + DEN loss + HOU loss or tie OR
3) MIA tie + BAL loss + DEN loss + TEN loss or tie

you dont have to root for indy, a tie will also clinch HFA if the pats win

A BAL win means the Broncos are eliminated with a loss @ KC

after reading all of that week 17 could mean Nothing for anyone if things fall a certian way this week. when was the last time that happened?

I think it would be very funny if the Pats win, Den loses, Miami wins and Oakland loses.

Then you will have the Pats/Dolphins week 17 playing for absolutely nothing. There would be no way either team could improve or lose their standing as far as i know.

It would turn into a true preseason contest while 12 or so other teams are fighting for their lives.

On the flip side of that it would also be amusing after all the talk of not needing the win and resting players if pats, Oakland, and Miami win with the broncos losing it would be Miami resting players and saying F this game we'll save it for the playoffs if we get that far. So the pats would go all out to secure HFA and crush them.

Sorry to spoil it for everyone but this is how the season will end up. Conference records are in parenthesis and losses in red:

NE 13-3 (11-1) NYJ, at Mia (the Pats rest everybody)
Oak 12-4 (9-3) Ind,
at Den
Pitt 11-5 (9-3) Bal, Cle
Ten 10-6 (7-5) at Jac, Hou (Hou and Ten switch if Hou wins)
KC 12-4 (9-3) Den, at SD
Mia 10-6 (7-5) at Buf, NE

WC - Mia and Pitt beat the crap out of each other with dirty hits and Pitt barely survives.
Ten/Hou upsets KC.
DR - Oakland and NE beat Pitt and Ten/Hou and play at NE for the AFCC.
AFCC - NE beats Oakland on a play by Carr called a fumble because the tuck rule was changed.

You have the Pats losing to Miami in Week 17, and Miami losing to the Pats in Week 17.

Thanks. I fixed it. Originally I was going to go with Baltimore in the last spot at 9-7 but I changed my mind and put Miami in there and gave them a win in the NE game.

Really hope Miami take care of business and get in don't want to see that dirty Denver Team again.

I hope not. We need to play hard in week 17 to keep momentum.
Actually we need to prepare hard and play hard for at least half then out the subs in if we have clinched HFA.
The biggest issue with fake week 17s is you go 2 weeks without serious preparation or playing.

I like this, no donkeys, no geldings, no nevermores,

If the Titans beat the Jaguars this weekend, the Colts are eliminated from the playoffs even if the Colts win out and the Texans and Titans lose the rest of their games.. as long as Titans beat Jaguars, Colts are a GONER...

So that makes it easier to root for the Colts against the Raiders.. they could potentially help us secure the #1 seed in an exercise of futility

Well, as it turned out I was only a little bit off. Who could have seen the Mariota/Titans loss coming. And now the 'big' Texans/Titans last game is meaningless.

I also noticed that I have KC and Oakland tied and I think KC would win the 2nd seed if that happened. The big question now is will the Broncos quit against Oakland in the last game.

The loss of Carr was a cruel blow.

Here's how I see it now;

1 NE 14-2 (wins at Mia)
2 KC 12-4 (wins at SD)
3 Pit 11-5 (beats Cle)
4 Hou 10-6 (wins at Ten)
5 Oak 12-4 (loses at Den)
6 Mia 10-6 (loses to NE)

WC - Miami and Pitt still beat the crap out of each other with dirty hits and Pitt still barely survives. Houston beats Oakland.
DR - KC and NE beat Pitt and Hou and play at NE for the AFCC.
AFCC - NE beats KC

SB - The Pats beat Dallas, a 13-2 team being overlooked btw.[/QUOTE]
