We will get something on Moss and/or Stallworth by Feb 25th

what makes you say that?
The Patriots will not even sniff the Super Bowl without Randy Moss. By the way, Stallworth is not even worth the money the Titans gave David Givens - 5 years/$24 million. Compare David Givens' numbers his last two years with the Patriots to Donte Stallworth's numbers this past season.

what??

wtf are you talking about?

from vague memory the pats won somewhere around 12 games in '06 and definitely came w/i a sniff of the superbowl w/the likes of reche caldwell and doug gabriel at wr, and like 15 guys on IR.
put welker on that team and they win the superbowl.

next year they'll have their guys back healthy --- add adalius thomas, welker, possibly stallworth, and the #7 pick, and you don't think they'll be better than '06??

I think they managed 3 superbowls w/o moss.
how many's he got?

The New England Patriots don't have the 2004 version of Corey Dillon, Deion Branch, and David Givens either.

yeah, those guys were huge in '06.....

we've got maroney, morris, and the offensive line which is a pretty damn good running game, and I'm fine w/the '08 wr's in place of branch and givens.

I know there's some people that really need to fellate moss for some reason --- one guy on another board even insists we wouldn't have made the playoffs w/o him this past year, and having a conversation w/you guys about football is about as productive as talking to the pats haters, so I'll end it w/this question:

list me all the teams you think will knock them out if moss walks ---- colts, or that san diego team that they knocked out a year ago w/o moss?
who else?

The Patriots can sign Gaffney for a fraction of what Stallworth's option bonus is worth.

dude, take some ritalin and try to focus a little.

Meanwhile you would get down on your knees for an overrated Donte Stallworth.

Dont underestimate the effect Moss going to another contender would have on the AFC landscape. Him coming to NE this year tilted everything towards the Pats, similarly if he left NE and went to say Jacksonville, suddenly the Jaguars arent a tease and become the real thing. There's 2 sides to losing Moss, your team getting worse and another team getting significantly better The whole theory that Moss can only succeed under specific circumstances is way overblown, Oakland was the pits but even in Minnesota there were a lot of mediocre teams there and he still put up All Pro numbers.

What just happened to this thread?

yeah this thread went to hell pretty fast.

My thought is that the two deals are pretty independent of each other. I am thinking that the Pats are establishing a set value for both receivers based on their individual performances over the past year , neither value is based based on what happens to the other player. If both players agree with what the Pats establish as their value then we are set if both walk then the Pats will reload again. But, I doubt if one negotiation has an effect on the other.
