We needed this loss!

Regarding the defense - there were legitimate reasons to be upset with how the defense played in the 2nd half of the Miami game and the first half of today's game. But let's put things into perspective.

Average PPG in the first 4 games since 2000.

2000: 18
2001: 19
2002: 20
2003: 19.25
2004: 15.75
2005: 27
2006: 16
2007: 12
2008: 19.75
2009: 17.75
2010: 24
2011: 24.5
2012: 23
2013: 14.25
2014: 22.5
2015: 19
Average: 19.24

2016: 15.25

The defense has historically started off very slow under Belichick, and has progressively gotten better throughout the season. Even the 2003 and 2004 defenses got off to slower starts than this year's. The only two seasons where we got off to better starts were 2007 and 2013.

Nothing to worry about. Hightower will continue to get healthier, and we're getting Ninkovich back.

No but they just played lousy today. It happens.

I think there may very well be positive aspects to the loss today, but you've done an awful job trying to articulate them.

Agree or not, we definitely needed this loss to show how flawed our team is, I am sure BB is going to address these problems on the team meeting early this upcoming week.

Thank god we are getting Brady back next week, he might be a bit rusty but I think it will be fine.
Our secondary is in shambles, people are not making the plays, I think we have one of the worst secondaries in the game...we make ****ty QB's look like pro bowl Qbs.
Our pass rush didn't show up today, we made the Bills O-Line look like all pro today.

Losing to a divisional rival like the Bills and more importantly to Rex is going to light a fire under this team tomorrow on their meeting. I am sure deep down inside BB is pissed how poorly our team played as a whole.

Andrews keeps struggling, I don't know what to say, we miss Stork in there...Andrews is just not cutting it.
Its time we trade for a center...

Our D-Line today has struggled to put any pressure, I am not 100% sold on Shead, he shows up once in a while, he has good games, and then he has those games where you wonder if he even played...

Hightower has struggled today, he has been on this team for a while and his cover skills has not improved, I'd say its time for us to draft a good cover linebacker that we can put next to Collins.
He might be good against the run, but in this league we need linebackers to be able to do both, the game is evolving, so are the players, we need to fix this.

At the end of the day we are still going to win the division, but do we really want to play in Denver next year for the playoffs? I for one don't...

Denver is showing how defense can win championships, and they haven't slowed down since their playoff run from last year and they look scary, we can make fun of them all we want but I don't think we can compete with them just yet.

I know this comes off as a negative post, but I think this loss will make this team stronger and better than ever, just like that loss against KC couple years back.
WTF? This nonsense belongs in the Practice Squad forum.

Who is SHEAD?

Jeez, with how bad the teams play has been you would think they were playing their third string QB! What a disgrace.

No team ever NEEDS to lose. If Belichick can find something in this game to use as motivation (and there was a lot) then so be it. **** happens

We needed this loss? You're telling me this team needed a divison loss at home that puts Buffalo back in the division hunt in a game in which we scored no points?

Hell naw!

You didn't read the whole post.
At the end I did say we will end up winning the division, we might not clinch homefield if Denver keeps playing like they have been.

I get the spirit of what youre trying to say but come on man, at no time does anyone hope for a loss or say "thank God we lost today".

There are plenty of coachable moments/mistakes in almost every football game.

I read it and will tell you this - There is no sure thing in the NFL. We will simply not win the division because we always have in the past.

You never want to lose a game in the NFL and your team never needs a loss. Especially a loss that puts Buffalo back in the division hunt and secures Denver a game ahead of us.

Every loss sucks! Especially gooseeggs. Looking forward to a big reset. Brady elevates this whole organization and Edleman won't be burdened with extra QB meetings this week.

More proof children of a certain age shouldn't have access to certain sites.
If we are being honest all of us should probably find something better to do

No, OP. I vehemently disagree. You already set yourself up the bomb from your opening salvo. Try again.
