Important note: Darrelle Revis' 1-year, $12 million deal w/the Patriots doesn't contain anything preventing NE from franchising him in '15.

Additionally, I'm told the Patriots ultimately, after a feeling-out period, have designs on locking up Revis long-term.

Could be long term

Breer's tweet says there is nothing preventing us from franchising Revis in 2015?

Wow. It's like Christmas in March.

Won't come until after his physical tomorrow.

No...not good enough...he needs to get that physical RIGHT NOW...somebody call his agent's agent/gofer and get him up here immediatel. I do not want to wait one second longer.NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like a longer term deal may be in the offing, and this one was easier to attain in the short term.

Too bad our opponents don't have to worry about any of our WRs

We were 3rd in scoring and 7trh in total offense. Someone must have been worried.

I am so damn excited for this signing. I've been a believer all along that if Talib was going to get $10M/yr Revis was worth the few extra millions. What a day!

My thoughts too.

For a few million more id rather have Revis.

so we will qualify for most likely a 3rd round compensatory pick in 2015 for losing Talib, and keeping it because Revis was cut from his originally team.

So, we upgraded the position, didnt have to give up picks, and actually added value.

Not to mention, if Revis ends up balling out and pricing himself out of our range next year, could qualify for another 3rd rounder next summer.

Bill knows value, and he knows how to preserve it.

It's almost like he made a trade. Talib for Revis and a 3rd. Brilliant!

I wonder what Rex Ryan is doing right now?

***Breaking News***

It's just breaking that after agreeing with the Patriots at 7:00 PM EST this evening, Revis is now (3 hours later) notifying the Patriots that he is holding out and will not be attending OTA's if the deal is not restructured.

Ummmmmmmmm, someone pinch me please :singing::rocker:

I am going to see them play in KC - I can't wait to see Revis in the Pats uniform. DAAAMMMNNN!!!!

I dare you to make a post about there being noway we sign Kevin Williams and Henry Melton.

It's not happening. There is no way Belichick pries open his wallet for Melton, Williams, or Allen.

And anyone would. Talib was very good when he was playing at full strength, which was not the norm. But even at full strength, he's no Revis.

Excuse me, I have to go tap dance now.

wow at the lack of anti-tag language on the 1 year deal. Maybe Revis is confident that he and the Pats will work out a multi-year pact later?

Whether it's one year or turns out to be long term this is Fantastic news for the Pats!! Revis fills a HUGE need for us and at an ELITE level of play!

IMHO, we have Revis for three years, with or without a multi-year contract.

To those that said 12 millions is a lot. Think of this way, Revis say he will not take less money than his 16 millions , yet he took 4 millions lesser.

Well you see, although Revis' previous contract was for 16m per year - there was ZERO guaranteed money!! I'm thinking that the 1 year deal he got from the Pats must have significant guarantees included. But that's just my guess.
