We gotta go get him (Tee Higgins)

Get Godwin for 18 million and jakobi for 12 million . Cut or trade bourne ( jakobi is Godwin injury insurance )

You have Godwin/jakobi/ pop and Boutte as your core receivers with Polk and baker from outside looking in

2 tight end tandem with Henry and hooper and Gibson as half back.
Absolute dumpster diving mentality. Meyers will be 29 during the season (and is slow), and Godwin is coming off yet another major injury and is over 30.

Two dimes for a quarter.

That’s what I’m saying we have the most cap and the most need let’s act like it.

Sorry Put isn't it time we put to bed the MYTH that Tom Brady was not "paid". It IS true that he never demanded to be the highest paid like some did, but for the majority of his last 12 or so years he was being paid very well. IIRC when he signed an extension in the late 2000's or early 2010's he WAS the highest paid QB in the league until Rodgers inched past him a year or two later.

I keep waiting for some other bright young QB to learn from what Brady did for most of his career and take a "bit" less and to add or keep a player or two, so you win more and lengthen your career and make more money outside your league salary. Brady did this, but he never gave away the farm and Bob Kraft didn't put any of the difference in his pocket (just MORE myths for patriot haters on this board)
i never said he wasnt paid.

i said he took a home team discount. big difference.

how many times did he lead the league in terms of pay? how many times did he reset the qb market? when his contemporaries were signing 100m dollar deals, he was signing 60m dollar deals...

cap vs cash spending ratio here is low. of course kraft pocketed the difference

Have you not watched this franchise for the last 25 years?
I think it was a generalization from PatsFan2

He’s going to be available, question is are the Patriots willing to pay above market to land him.

We had a lot last year as well and we see how that went. But who know who they actually tried to get but missed. I reserve judgement until after FA. I hope your right as you seem optimistic that we can get a decent WR and fill some of the numerous holes we have. I wont believe it until I see it.
I'm cautiously optimistic but many times the free agents re-up with their team before free agency. I'm more concerned the pool will shrink and won't be able to fill in as many holes as we could with the possible list as of today.
Higgins might not even get to free agency.
Currently this is a good free agent class at the top. Stanley, Bowles, Smith, Higgins. If those 4 stay Free Agents they should do everything they can to lock up as many of them as they can depending on the price tags. I'd hope they would get 1 of them and maybe 2. But if they all resign then the free agent class becomes much weaker.

Vrabel has a detailed type of player he wants for each position, and I think that will be very helpful in FA and possible trades and an improvement over last off-season.

Can't turn over the entire roster in 1 year but they can build a good base going into 2026 and with the better coaches, improvement from Maye, good draft and solid Free Agents added to a very weak schedule they could compete for playoffs.

Much needs to go right of course.

What would your contract offer look like? Years? Guarantees? AAV?

Note: He plays in 75% of the games.
I'm thinking 25M a season.. don't think he's getting chase $$$.. as great as tee is yeah the durability factor does come into play..

Any of them play in offenses similar to McD's?
I liken tee's game to when we had randy.. same body type, catch radius.. randy was able to thrive in McDaniels offense. Well thst was the Brady offense. Not saying he's moss at all.. just relating the body type, catch ability and speed.

Can we get Trey Hendrickson instead?

Let them keep Higgins and Chase if it means they can't afford Trey.

yeah, there will be 50 million guaranteed, no doubt... still better than what we have, which is nothing
My issue is that I don't want to settle for the "this is the best we can get" type of guy AND have him set the market. He's not the best WR in the league, but because of the market and the increased cap, he's going to be paid like one. If the Pats are going to set the marketplace, then they should get a guy worthy of that. Tee Higgins is good, but, to coin a phase, he ain't him.

He’s closer to him than what we have and what we can get unless we pull trades for AJ or DK.

Damaged goods. 3 significant injuries in 4 years..
I was responding to @TommyD4207 regarding his age. He wrote that Godwin is over 30, but he is not. He's 28 yo. That is a fact. Chris Godwin played 17 games in 2023. Last year at 27 was the 1st time he missed significant games in 1 season.

You guys willing to overpay for 1 player that's not a LT do realize we are still not getting any better than a possible wildcard spot next season right?

Is there a LT worth overpaying for, too? Sign me up for Alaric Jackson and Tee Higgins.

Yea Higgins is a nice player and any team would benefit from him but he's really a weapon because he has Chase. As our #1, it would be another FA disaster I bet.
He put up some good production his rookie year without Chase on the team.

Better than any Patriots receiver in the last 10 years not named Julian Edelman.

You are correct! I was only alluding to his injuries were significant going back to when tb12 was there.. ACL, and ankle injuries?

I have done a 180 on higgins... at first I didn't want him... but after this year, it is clear we need some one who can pull guys off the line, out of the box... Right now, there are no other options unless you want to make a run at steff diggs (31 years old, rehabbing a torn acl), amari cooper (will be 31 before the new year starts, disappeared in Buffalo), darius slayton (another 50 catch 700 yard guy) or cooper kupp (pending free agent imo, will be 32, is hurt a lot)... there really is no one else that I can think of... Unless we spend 4 on a WR, it isn't happening this year... LT is more important for the long term imp... ymmv on that one though

as for the money aspect, I just don't care... we have spent the past three or four seasons near the bottom of the league in cash expenditures... over that period of time, what has been the refrain? that the roster lacks talent... combine with the poor drafts, the unwillingness of the team to spend on free agents, this roster is full of guys would would have been bubble players in New England ten years ago... If we want to be competitive something has to change

I understand the reticence of overspending... BB and his fiscal frugality was imprinted on us as a fan base for 20 years... the "we don't have to spend/overspend, we can find a guy" mentality is unrealistic now, and quite frankly has been for awhile... Its time to take that yoke off and look at the realities of the modern day NFL...

If you want to wait and play the draft game, we won't be competitive for at least another two to three years by my reckoning... It's either that or start using the draft chips for trades in order to rebuild the roster... when a guy like AJ Brown comes available, we need to spend those chips to make the deal happen... and then you will still have to pay them...

Not the flex you would think it might be

I'm not hating on Higgins, he's a great player and star in this league. I just don't think he's the 30million #1 option type of guy - who knows, maybe we sign him and he proves me wrong, that would be awesome
