We are on to Miami: Official week 1 pregame thread

Let's see here...

1. Playing AWAY at Miami. The toughest place for this team to play over the years.
2. Offense is sputtering early. OL looking questionable. No Tyquan Thornton for at least another month.
3. Our 'QB coach' is Joe Judge of the 31st offensive rank Giants and our unofficial offensive "playcaller" is Matt Patricia, a dude who coached defense for the past decade.
4. Adds up to a close loss for the Patriots unless Miami pulls a New York Jets and butt fumbles their way to a loss.

The Steelers at Pittsburgh the week after isn't going to get any easier.

Dunno what BB is gonna say if we start 0-2, we're on to Baltimore. OOF, that prospect doesn't fill me with confidence either.

And the very next week we have the Packers at Lambeau field? Yeesh, the schedule makers really have it in against the Patriots. 1-3 or even 0-4 start is possible before we mercifully face the Lions in week 5.

Tua is the plural of the Latin Tuus, meaning mediocre QB who seemingly beats the Patriots.

So, "Have Tua lost to us" is ok as it implies more than one of these mythical Tuus creatures that only seem to throw 7 yard slants yet end up winning.
This is why we need you around. Sane posts like these bring order to the chaos that is PatsFans.com.

Getting everyone ready for a Wednesday:

On the other hand....

Last year Pittsburgh went 9-7-1, so they were worse than the Pats last year.

And Baltimore went 8-9, also worse than the Pats last year.

Is there any reason to think they're now better than New England? Maybe yes, but it's not remotely a stretch to think that they're still a notch below the Patriots.

I think there’s reason to believe the ravens are, yeah. They played without a healthy Lamar for much of last year and are now favored to win the afcn

Interesting on Bourne:

GM's are like sharks. They smell blood in the water, they're going to come investigate. Bourne gets kicked out of practice and doesn't play with the starters in game 2, and any GM worth their salt should make the phone call at least. Doesn't mean the Patriots had any real interest in trading him.

Yeah, in the end, I'm really happy we kept Bourne. I think he'll be productive for us this year.

Pats Dolphins preview on NFL’s Youtube channel

I know Pats aren't looking good and everyone loves any new young "offensive wizard" coach like McDaniel... but the Dolphins aren't going to be very good either. I think we have as good a chance as any year to win @Mia week 1. I think both Defenses will keep the offenses under wraps, so it'll be a 16 -13 type of game, and I think Pats win.
they aren't very good but play well against us every year. They have us circled on the schedule

Considering the Dolphins finished 2021 with one less win than the Patriots, if they aren't very good, neither are we. I also believe they did more to improve their team going into this season than the Patriots did. The net result, to me, is the Dolphins just being a straight up better team than us in 2022.

What do you think? Got a feeling man.

Since accuracy takes a backseat in your delusional, allow me to take 30 seconds of effort to research and post Tua's stats vs NE
Combined:
51-75 (68%)
451 yds (150 yds/gm)
2 TD/2 INT
Mia Offense: 72 pts (24 pts/gm) [NE offense: 17 pts/gm]
Record: 3-0

Was NE's week 18 loss vs MIA because NE had 21 game preseason in '21?
You forgot that they were coached by a guy that knows BB pretty well then. He's always had trouble with his assistants when they leave. Now they are playing against a rookie coached team.

Also it's in Miami, I hope that doesn't turn into Mac's own personal house of horrors like Brady

Why do you think that is still a major weakness?
Everyone and their mother knew our LB's had that issue. It's not the case now...so not sure why he says that.
