Watson to Dolphins?

Doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. If the Dolphins wanted a QB why wouldn’t they have just kept their draft capital and taken one of the top QBs in this draft?

True or not I'm not worried, Watson looks good on tube, have the stats and etc but didn't really move the needle for the Texans and he's been in the league for a while. Reminds me of Stafford. I know the Texans and Lions are disfunctional franchises but Top QBs get bad situations and turn things instantly.

Ummm...everyone slams the Patriots for their "not having weapons" and "cant draft skill position players" - if the Dolphins give away their next THREE first round picks (plus any other compensation) what exactly will they be surrounding Watson with?

That's like the frickin' Herchel Walker trade - get the superstar and then cant do much else with the roster to help him (plus the Cowboys go on to get Aikman, Smith and Irvin - plus others and win a couple titles).

Just measure everyone with the same ruler - that's all I'm asking.

Miami's had bonus picks from the Tunsil trade, and were able to make use of them. They still have 3 first round picks in the next 2 years.

The Texans can trade Watson away, get a draft haul, and take the #1 QB in next year's draft.
The Dolphins can get a 2nd tier QB who was trending towards being 1st tier.

How does that not make sense?
The part about Watson being in a ton of legal jeopardy and maybe not even being able to play this year.

Let the ‘Fins trade for him. This is a guy that blew a 24 point lead in the playoffs and got outscored 51-7 by the Chiefs.

He is like Stafford, they look good losing with their fancy throws. I don’t want to hear about bad defenses as Tom Brady went 14-2 with one of the worst defenses in the league in 2010. Elite QB’s get their side of the ball in line, score early and often, and not pad their stats in garbage time to think they were making a comeback (Carson Palmer effect).

And there is seriously something wrong with the NFL if he plays after 20+ accuse him of sexual misconduct, yet Antonio Brown gets black balled for the year.

I gave you a like because I can't decide between agree and winner. If the Phizz trade for Watson it's an admission they made a huge mistake with Tua. To me it comes down to who is making those decisions in Miami...is it the GM? seems like Chris Greer has a little bit of the ol' Bobby in him if it is...

True but Allen and Watson have a decade of great football in front of them maybe more. If Mac does not develop to their level at some point in the next few years than we are a perennial third place team.
It takes more than a good qb to have a good team. I know you can't grasp this, but football is a team sport.

HoW mANy PlAyofF GaMeS HaS WaTsoN won??
Are you saying Watson shouldn't be such an asset because he has only won 1 playoff game, or are you mocking the idea that his playoff performance matters and that he is worthy of such a high price tag?

I ask because the meme you used denotes sarcasm.

I think the most I’d trade for Watson is a conditional 5th round pick. The reason why is you get him for very reasonable money in 2021…. Then the balance of his contract is 4 years, $136 million. That is cost prohibitive IMHO, especially if one considers the notion that you might lose him for a significant part of the “reasonable money” year.

Saw an interesting point raised on The Athletic about Philly and Watson and the Minshew trade. If Philly traded for Watson, they'd trade Hurts to recoup some losses, but then if Watson was suspended they'd be stuck with just Flacco. So they added Minshew who's super cheap for 2 seasons and can play at a passable level. This would also kind of explain why Hurts randomly didn't play last week... he "didn't feel good" - OR, they were protecting a trade asset.

Please, not to Miami. With all Dolphins' offensive weapons, especially WR corp - Watson would shine.

Wanting to win through weak competition is lame. Let the AFC East have the best QBs and teams in the league so it's more rewarding to get the conference title

Just pointing out the double standards between QB's and fans. A lot here wanted to break the bank (before the scandals) but never brought up his record. Which isn't a big deal bc of sample size, what was going on around him etc but again some here want to have it both ways.

So today PFT claims Texans are asking for three #1'S and two #2's for Watson. I wish I could see how many times Nick is forced to continually lower his asking price before he unloads him.

No way in hell Watson gets traded before the legal issues get resolved. This "report" was later debunked by another source on twitter (I don't have the link). Most likely this was planted by the team to reiterate their asking price, though I guess it could be from Watson's agent.
