14 Mill a season over 5 years
This is the going rate for very good to great receiver play.
Two reasons why I wanted to share this.
What receivers in the NFL do you think the Pats wouldnt have a problem playing.
Finally sadly I had Diggs rated as a top receiver in that draft yet we cant seem to draft great talent at receiver the last 10 years.
Im terrified to draft a receiver before the 4th round under the BB regime.
Thoughts?

Crap he was a 5th Round selection not sure he's worth all that but he obviously worked hard congrats Mr Diggs.

If i've learned anything from discussion a certain other player, it's that BB has drafted perfectly every time, and that if a player doesn't work out it's not BB's fault for not drafting a better player, it's the players fault for not being good in the first place. Also its not BB's fault for passing on a better player.

Diggs is not a very good to great receiver. Not even close.

So you draft in the NFL?

I don't get what you people expect. This team has been a juggernaut for 18 years, what more could you possibly want? All this shoulda, woulda, coulda is just a waste of energy.

Enjoy the moments and bask in the knowledge that the Pats will at least be in the championship game until BB and Brady retire. Which is more than 31 other teams can say.

There's a lot to support that. While I think he has some real skill, he's never even played all 16 games. He's never hit 1000 yards. He's never had double-digit touchdowns. Steep price for a guy who hasn't hit any of the traditional benchmarks of a good season. I do like his route running and skillset, but he's a complementary piece.

Oh... I thought maybe they gifted Stephon Gilmore with a seat new condo.

Edit: Or are digs clothes? Shoes? I'm too old for this lingo now.

As a guy who loved him as a draft kings sleeper I can tell you he is very inconsistent.

LOL at those teams paying fragile divas $14M/year. Waste of money by half.

As you know, I think it's a bit of dubious contract, but I also think we need to redefine our understanding of what top level receivers actually make per year. Look at the other contracts given out around the league. Our receiving corp is an absolute bargain, even if we don't have a superstar. No wonder Gronk has made some noise about his salary.

EDIT: This is probably the team's justification for paying this kind of money:

He's paid like it
I would put him way below Hopkins Green Adams Brown Baldwin Gordon Jones Jeffrey he'sessentially a Marquise Goodwin kind of player.
There are many others above him.
Marquise Goodwin is pedestrian.

There is a difference between being reliable and being a game changer. He might be one of the most reliable receivers when he is on the field, but teams don't game plan specifically for him. And he is now getting paid as a game changer.

Edelman is the epitome of reliability. But he isn't a game changer. That is one of the big reasons why he doesn't get top dollar.

He has been held back by meh QB play and the guy on the other side really blew up. The guy has serious skills.

Diggs on the Patriots would be unbelievable.
