For those like myself, who are having difficulty accepting the season-loss of Lewis, this article might help put things in perspective:

• The Patriots have run 537 plays from scrimmage this season. Lewis makes up 15.8% percent of those plays with 49 rushing attempts and 36 receptions.

• Right now, Lewis has the same amount of receiving touchdowns as Danny Amendola, which is two. Gronkowski and Edelman both have seven a piece. Lewis also has two rushing touchdowns, but Blount has five.

• The Patriots lead the league in scoring. Dion Lewis has accounted for 24 of the 276 points scored, or 8.7% of the points scored this season by the Patriots.

• "I’m putting numbers into perspective, not dissing on Dion Lewis. The fact is about 85% of the offense wasn’t run through Lewis at all and the biggest part of the game (scoring) was run through Lewis even less."

• "In essence, Dion Lewis was being covered by linebackers because, in a base defense after Edelman and Gronkowski take up the best cornerback/safeties/best coverage linebacker, teams are putting the leftovers on Lewis and Amendola. Whether it’s Lewis, Bolden, or James White they are going to get a below average player matched up on them every time. Any running back with a set of hands should be able to cash in with those odds at least 75% of the time, which is coincidentally how often Lewis hauls in catches on his targets."

Well... I do have a full time job & I did this in between projects...can't account for every variable...sorry!

I appreciate the effort, but there are far too many variables missing for this to have much meaning. Which games included Gronk? Which games were with completely green WRs? Which games had Amendola? What does "starting third down back" even mean? How would the offense have done if they had a 2015 James White on the bench? Or if they had this year's group of receivers?

I'm not saying you need to do more work to answer these questions, I'm saying that you can't answer them, making the information hard to apply to this situation.

It's an observation based on an easily obtainable set of figures...that's all we really have that's comparable

Lewis was 3rd on the team in yards from scrimmage, despite having missed a game. On a per game basis, he was the team's leader in yards from scrimmage.

At this point, I'd be fine with the Pats signing Rice if they see enough in workouts to think he's not washed up. It's been almost 2 years, he seems genuinely remorseful, and even if he's not I got over the fairy tale notion that I'm rooting for 53 good people years ago. We unwittingly rooted for a serial killer for a few years, if anything's going to knock that notion right out of you, that's it.

If we made a list of the players who are still in the NFL after committing equally as bad or worse acts than Rice, it would be very, very, very long. Only difference is Rice was caught on video. The biggest downside to signing Rice at this point is the PC hysteria machine kicking into overdrive and smearing the hell out of the Pats, which is what they've been doing for the past 9 months anyway so even that would be nothing new.

You can assume that the list of players who beat their wives or children is very very very long but until they are caught we won't know. If they are caught I don't want them on a team I rood for. Although for you to assume that there is a long list of wife/children beaters to rationalize the acceptance of it so that you can root for the team that employs one is a bit strange.

No, I do not want Ray Rice on the team. There are plenty of talented kids out there that have not cold ****ed their wives or children.

They drafted White for this and Bolden's a known commodity. They aren't Dion Lewis but outside of Danny Woodhead and Matt Forte I can't think of anyone comparable in the league right now, so we're just going to have to make do.

It's already been mentioned. The ravens where awful and had a terrible offensive line in 2013. I think he can still play
