Our N.E. Patriots is one of the SLOWEST Teams on Offense...Gronk adds a dimension to our Offense very unfortunate for him with injuries the last two years. Back to the thread Title we are Great inside the numbers but average at best outside them. We need a outside WR that can compliment our Excellent inside the numbers game. Lloyd is average at best we are poor outside the numbers and the Ravens Exploited that yesterday. Look at what Cabtree and Moss do for the 49ers look at what Torrey Smith do for the Ravens. We need Speed outside the numbers or we will always be left wanting on Offense against Good/Great Defenses. We need one of these three players if available.

Mike Wallace = Have the Great Speed this Offense lacks.

Greg Jennings = Excellent route runner with deep speed.

Dwayne Bowe = Better than most Patsfans think.

Let's not forget, though:

Mike Wallace = World Class diva.

Greg Jennings = Is all about the $$$.

Dwayne Bowe = Maybe.

Somebody like Wallace could be nice. I want a legit deep threat that actually requires attention from the safeties.

Lloyd at best provides some intermediate threat but his game is too inconsistent. The D isn't worried about his ability to take it deep.

It's uncanny how we're talking about the same issues from 2010.

Mike Wallace - No thanks. He has speed and that's it and we saw Brady fall in love with the deep ball when we got moss and he went away from what has made him successful.

Greg Jennings - I am interested. Besides being a deep threat he understands timing routes and it good at adjusting which is perfect for the Pats.

Dwayne Bowe - I have not seen him play in a complex offense to be confident that he would understand the uncalled audible routes and make route adjustments on the same page with brady (ala Chad Johnson). He is a hell of an athlete and big but just not sure he is good for our offense.

Someone I would love to get in the draft is Tavon Austin. He is extremely explosive and could work in our offense. He would need the time to learn routes and adjustments but that speed could contribute right away and with the no huddle they can run and pass with him in there.

All of that could be said about Moss before he joined us.

You give a guy a contract, you put him in a winning situation and you'll see a lot of problems magically disappear with these types.

Preach brother preach...wish we had brought in better talent last year...they were available. If we had signed Vincent Jackson we would be in the Super Bowl. Good/Great WR's comes at a cost and BB should know that you can't make chicken salad out of chicken $h!t thats been our WR's on the outside since Moss.

Greg Jennings? Doesn't he already have a SB ring?

ct: Jennings in reality might be the cheapest of the bunch and probably could transition quicker than the other two. Jennings and a rookie could be good alternatives. WR's can still put up elite numbers at 30.

Yeah, but Jennings is always hurt. What good is for us if he's on the bench.

We have an aged QB and a geriatric WR corps and a plethora of young and talented RB's. Maybe it's time we forget about building the leagues best passing attack and focus on building a championship rushing attack? Lord knows all of our record setting passing attacks have yet to yield us a SB title.

At what does Brady excel? At what is he normally his best with pinpoint accuracy? How many countless times have we seen his deep throws on the sideline go out of bounds or him overshoot a receiver going long down the middle? Wihout a doubt his strength is throwing 5-20 yard passes inside the numbers. He is lethal and this team is near unstoppable when he connects with Welker, Gronkowski, Hernanded on those 10-15 yard passes with 10 yac. The 2007 season with Moss was an anomally with the deep balls - how many times did Brady just heave it into double coverage and Moss made a great play on the ball? My point is the Pats/Belichick/krafty Bob have gotten players that excel inside the numbers - that's where they've dedicated most of their resources - tight ends, running backs, and wide receiver is/has been an after thought on this team for quite some time. Point is, they're not bringing in a wide receiver unless its a no name guy or some old vet oon his last legs like Joey Galloway....

I haven't seen it mentioned yet in this discussion, but here is a good reason why Dwayne Bowe may be an excellent fit:

Brian Daboll.

I wasn't speaking specifically about just Jennings.

What i am saying is that we have a good track record with guys with questionable attitudes and i don't think a player who has the skillset we require should be discarded just because of that.

Yeah, but Jennings is always hurt. What good is for us if he's on the bench.

Brady's body language or disposition tells me he would like someone better than Lloyd on the outsides. Though troubling injuries to some players is part of the game. But I would rather have a Greg Jennings than not he would make Lloyd better.

who cares? as long as they produce on the field that's all that counts. if the pats keep being afraid of signing "bad seeds" then they'll continue to watch other teams parade around with the lombardi.

never thought of that actually that could help if we are trying to sign him

And unlike the 49ers and Ravens, the Pats had a historic offense with the third best scoring offense of all time. Meanwhile the Ravens were the 10th ranked scoring offense this year scoring 9.9 less points per game than the Pats and the 49ers were the 11th ranked scoring offense scoring 10.0 less points per game than the Pats.

I whole heartily agree. The problem with the Pats' offense this year is that it was too good. If the Pats could just emulate lesser offenses and become a middle of the pack offense, then they will have what it takes to win the Super Bowl.

Seriously, nothing is better than knee jerk reactions to one loss. Would a speedy WR help this offense? Sure, probably most definitely. Is the lack of a speedy WR the reason the Pats lost yesterday? No. Can this offense be a top offense without one? Absolutely.

Have the Patriots won a super bowl since they've become a prolific, some would say "one dimensional" passing offense with an over reliance on a 5'8' receiver? there's your knee jerk reaction...
