Patriots Injury News UDFA rookie FB Brock Lampe placed on IR

Wrong, Pilgrim.

If one or both the top TEs can’t play, gotta have fall back options.

Hunter Henry is the Drake Security Blanket. Without him, Maye will force throws, take off running, and look to dump off to TreVeyon Henderson in the flats or on a wheel route.

But that’ll get old fast.
I don't suspect we are going to get tired of dump offs to Trey. He seems like the kind of guy you get excited every time he has the ball.

I never root for a Patriot player to fail, even if he’s not one of my favorites. That being said Lampe was a poor athlete, not strong, he was coming from the MAC, this is the NFL and he was playing the FB position. It’s all collisions all the time… he wasn’t built for this.

The notion of the "Foxboro flu" was overblown.

Besides the fact that being on IR means you can't practice with the team, virtually every UDFA rookie under Belichick who went on IR ended up getting cut before the next draft. I hope the Patriots under Vrabel will give Lampe a second chance.
This isn't just a Patriots or Belichick phenomenon. Generally true around the league. And of all pro sports, the only one where marginal players have any kind of safety net that creates reasonable bounce back odds is MLB because of the minor leagues.

Bell isn’t a TE, he’s an H-Back. And unlike Spencer Rattler Maye can actually play football, and has much better options this season than he did last season.

Bell won’t make the 53.

That people believe a billion dollar corporation wouldn’t manipulate the rules (Foxboro Flu) is some real naive stuff. It happened, happens and will happen again.

Find me one UDFA the Patriots placed on IR his rookie season who went on to become a meaningful contributor for NE.

Based on the available information, here are some undrafted rookies who have been placed on Injured Reserve (IR) by Bill Belichick while with the New England Patriots, and some who later made the active roster:
  • David Andrews: Undrafted center who was placed on IR as a rookie but later became a starting center and captain for the Patriots.
  • Brandon Bolden: Running back who was placed on IR early in his rookie season (2012), but later returned to become a valuable special teams player and reserve running back.
  • JaQuae Jackson: Wide receiver who was placed on IR during the 2024 preseason.
  • Darryl Roberts: Drafted in the 7th round, he was placed on IR his rookie year.
  • Malcolm Butler: Undrafted cornerback who made the team after going undrafted, but it's important to note he was not placed on IR in his rookie year.

Coming from the guy who told me Mac Jones, Chuks Okorafor, Leverett and Jordan were good… I’ll take this as a net positive.

Lampe was the highest rated blocker that wasn’t an offensive lineman in all of college football last season, and he’s built exactly like James Develin, so you’re right, that was an epically stupid post.
This ^ is false. Develin was a smaller school prospect just like Lampe… the difference, Develin was a defensive end… 6’3” 260 pounds leaving college.

Lampe was a TE who converted to FB and he was 6’1” 244 pounds… but do you want to know the real difference? Strength… Lampe benched it 22 times leaving college, Develin 39 times. Develin was a beast… the strongest guy in his draft class. But sure… the same.

The Foxboro flu wasn’t limited to UDFA’s or even rookies.

I'm guessing you got AI to cough up this garbage?

David Andrews and Brandon Bolden did not go on IR their rookie seasons, period. (Bolden was suspended for four games, though.) JaQuae Jackson is now a Charger, and Roberts didn't play a down for the Patriots.

WOW.. Talk about being full of it.

David Andrews played 14 games as a rookie in 2015. He was NOT placed on IR that year.
Brandon Bolden played 10 games as a rookie. He missed 6 games because the team deactivated him for 2 and he was suspended for 4 by the NFL. Not placed on IR.
Darryl Roberts was IRed and then Waived in his rookie year, only to be claimed by the Jets. He played 12 games that year for them. So, it doesn't fit the scenario mentioned.
JaQuae Jackson - Was IRed. Never suited up for the Pats. Again. Doesn't fit.
Malcolm Butler was a UDFA. He was inactive for 5 games. He was not IRed. So that doesn't fit.

So, you're 0-fer..

Can Lampe agree to an inury settlement and come back to someone's Practice Squad?

I think this is why it’s rare for a UDFA to go on IR and then end up playing for the same team. There’s usually an injury settlement and they tr

the NFL league rules are kind of grey here
especially for an undrafted free agent.
Lampe received a signing bonus, which he got all of his money.
an injury settlement would cover all, or portions of his remaining contract. the player must wait thru the duration of the covered settlement portion, plus typically 3 weeks.
Lampe could sign back with the Pats, or any team, after waiting out the covered allotted time frame

since I never said any such thing, you apparently continue to say dumb things

But you did… you say a lot of silly things, then dance and pretend you didn’t.
