Tyquan Thornton Having a Tough Camp

It’s unfortunate that Thornton got hurt when he did, because otherwise everybody would be talking about how he beat the highest paid corner in the league for a long catch. He also drew a PI on Alexander earlier in the joint practice. There’s clearly some ability there.

Haha. You think if they had a re-draft tomorrow he’d still be a 2nd round pick. What bizarro world are you living in.
What has happened to change that?

when you have Brady, who won 12 games throwing to Josh Boyce, Kenbrell Tompkins, "largely not drafting them or not drafting them early" can work, as Brady proved. But since Bill the GM chose not to keep Brady, we've seen nothing but jags being jags and draft busts being draft busts at One Patriot Place.
There has been NO success in Jonathan City the last 3 seasons, and Bill the Coach's 25-26 record is a testament to that. Perhaps if Bill the GM hit on the NKeal Harry or Thornton pick (and I'll throw in Keene and Asiasi) it would be a different story

Well, at least you have Salas guiding your team, so you don’t have to put up with the suffering Patriot fans have had to deal with the past 23 years. Only 6 Lombardi’s sucks.

You’re joking right?
No. I’m 100% serious.
He was injured, came back and had an average type of season for a rookie 2nd rounder. He showed the skills he was drafted for and he did not show any lack of the skills he was supposed to have.
What do you think happened that would change his evaluation?

- can’t stay healthy
- did next to nothing when he did play
- is playing with the second stringers in camp
- reported to be having a bad camp

Still has the most speed of a receiving group that desperately lacks it. Upside based on his physical abilities, hope the rest of it comes together and he manages to stay on the field. Not ready to give up on him yet.

He broke a bone last year. Breaking a bone does not change your evaluation as a prospect.
When he played he played just as you’d expect an average rookie in us draft slot to play, despite unrealistic expectations of some.
The rest is just speculation.

I haven't read reports of a bad camp. I've read that he's getting open and making catches, but that he's been hampered by injuries. And he had two touchdowns in his second pro game ever, so I'm not going to say he did nothing. You seem overly sour on his prospects. He's got potential, he can take the top off a defense like no one else on the roster (even if he's just running dummy routes to open up stuff underneath), and he seems like a hard worker with a good attitude. Parting ways with him this season seems shortsighted.

For a guy whose apparent frailty was a major concern, being injured all the time is not a good look.

Half the board thought Harry was going to break out any minute until he finally got traded. I am not writing Thornton off yet but it is more than reasonable to question whether he is a bust or not based on what we have seen.

He had one injury, a broken bone which has absolutely nothing to do with a players injury proneness.

Salas? you talking about the journeyman catcher from the 80s? Go ahead, You can now resume your regularly scheduled Belichick tongue bath

My mistake, Saleh, I’m a Patriots fan so I didn’t pay close enough attention to spelling of the name of the head coach of your jets. And saying that the Patriots have won 6 Lombardi’s with Belichick is a fact, but I can see how someone who hates that as much as you do would consider it a “ tongue bath.” I mean ****, your team has gone over 50 years without being able to celebrate a Lombardi, and that really sucks for you.

they've won 6 titles with Brady and Bill the coach is 25-26 since Brady left. so I'm a Jets fan bc I'm critical of a team that's 25-26 the last three seasons and let the greatest player of all time leave? try again, and go back to worshipping at the Altar of Orchids of Asia

Did you miss the fact that he is currently out with an injured shoulder?
On literally the only ball he went to the ground for.

As in, the ground knocked him out for weeks.

Although i think the N'keal harry draft takes the cake. we took him before EVERYONE. and apparently he's the only wideout from that season who couldn't play.
There were EIGHT WRs drafted in the first 2 round in 2019. 3 hit (Deebo, Brown, Metcalf); one has been okay, but was the first one taken and hasn't lived up to it (Marquis Brown) and four busted (Harry, Arceda-Whiteside, Paris Campbell and Andy Isabella. And those last three BUSTED worse than Harry.

A couple of the later picks: Diontae Johnson and Terry McLauren hit.

But it's simply not true that Harry was the only bust of that class - more than half of the top EIGHT sucked. And the #1 WR pick that year is...okay.
Deebo went to a perfect fit in San Fran. Metcalf hit gold with Wilson, who throws a perfect arcing bomb for a big guy to get. I notice that his YPC are going down now - he got 141 targets last year. They just play jump ball with him at this point.

It's not encouraging he still looks like a twig. It's too easy for athletes to put on size if they truly want given every resource is at their disposal.

I was hoping he'd put on at least 10 pounds during the offseason.
