TreVeyon Henderson = Curtis

The thing with Must-See T.V. is that he has home run ability whenever he touches the ball; especially in the open field. For this reason, his stats can vary from pretty good to elite. I only see two things theoretically holding him back from becoming Martin/Gibbs; the committee approach with the sons of RANarchy & his durability (which is unknown at the NFL level). Other than that….ecstatic to have him.

Vrabel knows what he’s doing, he’s not going to abuse Henderson. Just listen to the way he talks to Maye about protecting himself for the good of the team. He’s going to treat Henderson the same way. He will give him plenty of touches, but won’t run him like he’s Derrick Henry.
I must disagree. I believe this team is similar to the Titans and when push comes to shove its the running game in the Red zone, Vrabel knows it. Face it like I am, we should be a run first team. That is this teams supposed strength, use it. I'm gonna keep it a buck, QB, dismal in preseason, WR's, nobody in the NFL is scared of these guys, TE's, not a Red zone threat. Pound the Rock and punt and get em in the 4th.

I think this narrative is a little bit revisionist history. I don't see how he ever "broke down"

2021 he played every game, averaged 6.8 a carry, 183 attempts.

2022 Guy BROKE HIS FOOT and played thru it most of the year and still averaged 5.3 a carry in 107 attempts, on a broken foot that needed surgery. A broken foot is not close to breaking down.

2023 He missed 3 games when he was recipient of a cheap shot late hit vs Notre Dame while already tackled and was on the ground, and still finished the game, including a 61-yard run for a TD in the 3rd quarter. Still 156 attempts

He was never injured as a senior despite 144 rushes and 27 receptions. That would put him 39th overall in the NFL in rushing attempts but in 16 games not 17.

Gibbs had 143 and 151 rushes his last 2 years in college and had 182 as a rookie and 250 in year 2.

He's basically Jahmyr Gibbs with better college stats. You split workload to prolong these guys longevity and to keep them fresh thru the whole year. There are very few Derick Henry types

I think the narrative that he breaks down is not supported by the facts.
Breaking Down was probably not the best words to use
He started getting injured and OSU felt a double headed horse was in their best interest
I think Vrabel will do the same

Lets not put him in canton just yet
If he was only more interested in winning a game than preparing for his exit to Hempstead, Parcells might have seen to it that the ball was handed to the HOFer in his backfield rather than letting Reggie White destroy Max Lane on his way to Drew Bledsoe, there just might be a 7th championship banner hanging at Gillette.

After watching Henderson’s 1st down run and TD run in the Vikings preseason game, I aaid in a “WhatsApp” chat I’m in with my friends that Treveyon Henderson is the best Pats RB since Curtis Martin.

The game has changed so statistically they can’t be compared, but Henderson will have a similar (maybe greater because of Henderson‘a speed) impact on the Pats offense. Opposition DC’s are going to have game plan for him and good luck to them. The Pats know what they’ve got. The passing game mismatches have been discussed, but there’s more. Greg Bedard was talking about how the Pats were running more outside zone in practice than you’d expect for a McDaniels offense. Henderson is the reason for that. You pitch him the ball and get him outside the edge and really good things await this offense.

I don’t disagree that it’s a run first team , but he will use all 3 backs, Henderson isn’t getting 300 carries.

I definitely cosign with you.

Why? Don't give your best player the most opportunities? Only 18 carries a game? Parcells gave 80 carries to the other back Dave Megget, I think that's all I would trust with Rhamondre this year. Ask Zolak about a star back when he was in camp.

For the same reason you don’t let Drake Maye run the ball 150 times. Sure, you would get a great return on it game by game, but you would destroy your most important player. I want them to use Henderson a good amount of the time, but he’s a 200 lb back, not 230, so you handle him as such.

Sign me up for 10-12 rushes and 4-5 targets a game. His ability can easily turn that in to 100+ yd/g with the home run possibility each touch. As much as he brings in the return game I don’t think it’s worth the extra punishment until we are in the playoffs or in key game moments fighting to get in.

Barry Sanders was a 200 lb back, had plenty of carries every year, many behind terrible O-lines. Martin was 210 lbs. I'm not advocating to over use him, but let's not pretend 200 lbs is some magical number that means you can't carry the load.

Methinks your memory of Max Lane is more rose colored than mine.
Not at all. I am just saying that o-line was significantly better than our now. We need a left guard, center, and depth.

Barry Sanders isn’t a good example, as there is only one Barry Sanders, and he made defenses look like they were playing flag football. I expect Henderson to get the most snaps but Velrabel isn’t going to run him 300+ carries.

They had another 5-star join Ohio State in the portal. That's literally the only reason they both played.

Nor should he. Obv the hope is they can limit his touches with Ram/Gib being effective, while still having Hendo’s limited touches be incredibly productive. That’s the hope and plan. But you know what they say, everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face.

The Sanders comp was low hanging fruit. We can use Jamal Charles and Chris Johnson if you prefer.

CJ2K was 197 lbs at the combine. Go look at his stats, he had several years with very high carries.

Jamaal Charles is the comp I see in Henderson.

What makes THE Ohio State football coaches love Henderson so much is he was the guy. Then they brought in transfer Quinshon Judkins from Ole Miss to platoon with Henderson. And Henderson took him under his wing, preached about Jesus, and never let himself be bothered by the situation.

In other words he is a one in a million RB.

Imagine the character of Cedric Jones fused into Sam Cunningham's talent.
