Trent Brown contract revision

After seeing the way Calvin Anderson played LT. After watching the tapes we don't Ever want him there. We need Trent Brown there Exclusively!
You watched those tapes of Anderson playing LT did you?

kind of ballsy of Trent Brown to negotiate for more money after coming into camp out of shape and after his horrendous season last year

He'll still be a free agent in 2024, and the free agent LT class is light as usual, so you'd think the promise of a pay day next year would've been motivation enough... But maybe Trent doesn't want to go anywhere else? He has made some statements seeming to imply he prefers to stay in NE. Perhaps Bill is willing to work with him on tweaking the cash here and there if it means he stays playing well while also being relatively cheap as far as left tackles go.

As far as starting left tackles go he was underpaid, his salary was almost half of what it was last year until they reworked it.

Signing him to a series of one year incentive laden deals at not top of the market for a left tackle of his age is a great cost effective way to keep him invested and keep a solid left tackle on the roster.

Can't remember a Patriots player who constantly needed contract adjustments to play well like Trent Brown.
The Patriots have only signed him to one year deals so yeah, he needs to get reworked every year.

I would like them to give him a Two year extension being that he's only 30 years old to hold down that LT spot until we Draft or develop another.

They should have extended him another year, but if he plays well they should do so after this season and hopefully he wants to stick around.

I hope so too not many people on the Planet are his size.

No he doesn't. Quite the opposite in fact.

This adjustment makes about as much sense as the Dorothy Parker adjustment.
You get a raise! You get a raise! You get a raise!

And for good reason: he Sucks as a Left Tackle.

He's not a solid LT. He sucks as a LT; or are ye forgetting what happened last year?

Trent Brown started at left tackle the entirety of 2018... Tom Brady had the second lowest sack total of his entire 23 year career.

Oh yeah... they also won a Super Bowl.

Do you do any research on this crap at all before you say silly absurd things?

Matt Patricia happened last year... apparently you forgot.

So we were paying him @ $29,000/lb

Now we are paying him @ $34,000/lb

On a more serious note he has made over $60,000,000
Pretty good for a 7th round draft pick.

“I’m really glad they have Brown on the left side because I think he can take care of a quarterback’s back side without a problem,” said Scarnecchia. “I’m not saying that with any kind of disrespect for the guys there who had him on the right. I just think that Trent is a really good left tackle. "When he’s focused, committed, and healthy, he’s as good a tackle as you’ll find on either side." - Scarnecchia

Then there was that time Tom Brady called Brown the best left tackle he's ever played with... but luckily we have Captain Stoned here to set us straight.

I’m always curious to know how much of that the player ever really sees deposited in his account, or how much stays instead of flying out as quickly as it comes in. Take Federal and state taxes off the top, and agent fees. That’s probably half of it gone right away. Then there are the expenses, not just agents but accountants and lawyers at least, and trainers of course. Plus it’s got to be expensive to move whenever they're traded or sign with a new team.

I was thinking about it when the news of Trent’s contract adjustment broke, I figure that he’s probably got enough saved to retire comfortably but not extravagantly. That’s why I think a lot of the comments on here about him being lazy are totally wrong. If he was as lazy as some folks claim he’d just retire and live off that $60,000,000 he’s made, or what he saved from it. But he’s not, he’s out there throwing his body at other big men and running around until he’s exhausted and getting banged and bruised and concussed. At this point he already got paid (by Oakland) so he must be doing it because he loves football, or has a competitive drive, or something. For sure he’s not doing it because he’s lazy.

PFF player grades are silly, but this this can't be right?

He's out of shape, a massive liability and he can't play the left side... that about cover it?

Where can I get someone to pay me an extra $2M to show up for work every day for the next three months?

Does your job involve the possibility of getting maimed or paralyzed for the rest of your life?
