PATRIOTS TRAINING CAMP Training Camp Day 4

I know it is early in camp, but elumubar looks pretty decent at right tackle.

I really thought cajuste would be giving him more of a fight.

I have yet to see Cunningham. Either he is the invisible man, or he plays like the invisible man.

Cunningham is the 4th OT for now. Bill traded for him, and may give him some time to develop.
Alternatively, we could upgrade him by signing a veteran like Newhouse or a cut down from another team. A lot depends on whether Cajuste shows anything. We need 3 OT's who will eb active in every game. Maybe Cajuste is up to that, maybe not.

A few unknown standouts so far:
  • WR Devin Ross
  • WR Gunner Olszewski
  • CB Myles Bryant
  • LB Cassh Maluia
  • LB De'Jon Harris
Given the lack of LB depth, I think Cassh Maluia is the closest to being a lock. Gunner will probably make the team as WR5, as Ross doesn't have ST value. Myles Bryant will be a tough cut. I think he's going to be good enough to find another team.
I like that Cassh is doing well, maybe he is the next Elandon Roberts. Late round ILB thumper.

Gunner’s a future HOF. Trade Edelman for four 1st rounders now!

Apparently he pancaked a couple of DL during goal line drills..I’ll try to find the post.

LMAO what? If it’s about timing and anticipation, how can we not read into INTs? It means his timing and anticipation is off. So even if you don’t have an axe to grind against Stidham, it’s impossible to not read into them when you’re considering those three things. Methinks Bill was just trying to be positive about one of his guys, but he’s stunk on ice so far. I’d imagine he’s conveying similar thoughts to Stidham in the film room.

I think Giardi is misrepresenting BB's answer a bit. The other beat guys are mostly going with this verbatim quote that to me reads much less like "stress the positives":

Thanks. That’s at least more acceptable than what Giardi reported. I should have assumed he probably botched the quote since that Tweet reads like it was spoken by someone who has never played football in their lives.

New poster. Garbage poster, who's already had Ian talk to him about it. Rather than slapping him around every time I see his crap (literally, in this case), I decided to just have him disappear from my screen.

If Hoyer somehow starts I may have to induce vomiting.

Isn’t Herron a little light in the ass to play RT? He’s barely 300 pounds..
I've seen him listed around 295-308. Not too far off and he's 6'5. So he can easily handle another 8-12lbs. I think Wynn is 310-315 max.

I know Thuney plays light at G around 295.

Can we put Stidham in the practice squad?

For now, it looks like that Hoyer is beating him for the backup role.
Why? The Pat's are likely keeping three QB's this season regardless.

Gotcha; I guess I assumed guys at the RT position usually tended to be a bit “beefier.” I.E Cannon, Vollmer, Kaczur etc..

If Cam Newton is healthy & laser-focused, and if all the other projected starters are healthy & contributing as expected, vs this schedule, then I'm looking at 8-8, best case...If Cam Newton ends up gimpy and/or mistake-prone, if some of the starters' nagging injuries continue to linger and if the kids fail to progress as hoped, then I'm looking at 6-10, same as if Stid or Hoyer were starting...
A very reasonable and fair take. We’ll have to see how it pans out, but my view is BB is trying to put together his version of the Ravens offense, which a healthy Newton would be perfect for and would explain Elumanour at RT. If it works, I think we can be a lot better on offense than we expect. On the other hand, this offense wouldn’t work with Hoyer.

On defense, while the secondary is still very strong, the LB and DL are very young and unproven. All 4 LB from last season are gone, that just sounds crazy for a BB team. I think the secondary is going to need to carry the front 6 or front 5 through its growing pains. We’ll see how that goes; if the youngsters don’t make steps up as the season progresses, we’ll have a Swiss cheese defense against the run in December again.

Even if everything shakes out on offense and we copy the Ravens with Newton at QB, I can still easily see 1-3 coming out of the gates. With how tough the schedule is, that would be hard to recover from. I think best case is probably 2-2 in the first month.

Yes he is...Cannon & Waddle were also college LTs, but they each weighed at least 315 lbs and therefore the transition to NFL RT was a natural one for them...Herron ain't playing RT for us ever...He's in competition with Cunningham for the backup LT spot...Cachoo & El'manure are in competition for the starting RT spot with the loser becoming the backup there.
