If they trade the 2025 1st round pick for something this year, would that be enought to get a end of 1st round pick or they need to throw something extra?

We are optimistic with the recent changes it's ok we are fans but other fan bases or GMs might not be sold on the Pats, there's a realistic chance we are drafting in the 13-20 range next year, maybe higher.

It seems this years draft is a lot better than next.
Instead of trading #3 down , I'm in favor of trading up back in the 1st round sacrificing next draft not this.

Usually it’s one round lower this year than next, so a first next year would get you a second this year. If there is a tackle and receiver they need to have in round 2 this year I’m ok with it given the receiver depth this year.

The nice thing is their second round is high also, so it becomes much easier to move up to get back in the first round if they want to.

Ideally they keep our 2nd since we need a lot of players.

1st next year + 2nd this year is a big package, probably moving up in the #20s or higher , I'm looking more at #29 and beyond.

If they end up drafting Daniels, I’d like to see them trade back into the first for Brian Thomas. I think there is high value to pairing a QB with his college receiver, especially a deep ball specialist like Thomas for Daniels.

If we weren't so handicapped on Offense I would be against this but we Need Legitimate Playmakers. So I am in favor of Trading down see which Teams offers you the most for Maye or Daniels. We would be foolish not to at least consider some offers we are more than a Player away our cupboard is bare on Offense and very dusty too *coughs* dam cough.

Next years Draft will have some fine QB's too I a not in favor of sacrificing future picks WE might be Drafting Top 10. Like I said already we are not One player away more like Five on Offense alone. :(

Giving up our 2025 1st would be a terrible decision. Given our roster it could well end up being a top 10 pick again.
correct - it's too risky, although other teams would perceive it as very valuable after seeing Carolina trade their 2024 first rounder a year ago to move up for a QB, and it ended up becoming the 1st overall pick for the Bears next month.

This Team needs a QB - LT - RT- a TE not named H Henry and Two Boundary WR's. Yeah it would be real smart to give away future high picks having all those Needs. :(

to answer the original question, it should theoretically be worth a 2024 lower-1st, say in the 20-25 range, but unless we throw something else in it's hard to picture a team doing it because they then wouldn't be picking this year till around 50-55, wherever their 2nd round pick lies. That's too much delayed gratification.

If we offered our high 2nd as well, then I could see getting up to the 13-17 range perhaps. Some team that had their heart set on a player that disappears just before their pick, they don't see good value in that range, so they drop down 18-20 spots to #34, and hope their reward is a top-10 pick next year. But then we'd picking 3 and say 15, with no #34. I wouldn't do it.

Our best hope for manufacturing a pick or two is a small trade down from #3. You get a high 2nd round pick this year, which you can then package with our high 4th to move up into the 1st. Or if we can do a deal with Arizona to swap #3 for #4, the comp could be to move up from 34 to their other 1st rounder #27 (plus some additional comp too).

I wonder the same thing; I think the extra covid year players all came out this year along with the regular seniors making this a deeper than normal draft.

Draft Buzz has 16 players in 2024 with 89 or higher rating. In 2025 there are ONLY 2. 2023 had 12.

This year there are 35 players rated higher than the 10th best player in 2025.

I just don't see teams giving up a 1st for next year's first as whatever team does it won't have their 1st pick this year until end of 2nd round, who would do that?

I would trade next year's 2 for an extra early 3 or late 2 this year due to the depth of the draft being good at WR. Even throw in a late round pick this year to get that done. If they can get 4 picks in the top 80 they could get qb, wr, tackle and then double dip on O-line or receiver. This might be the deepest wide receiver class ever.

Things could change but 2025 looks like an extremely weak draft.

We can prob move up into the late teens early 20s. However I have no interest in moving what is likely a top 15 pick to do that.

Why are you so bloody smart now you have me thinking. :(

Ras who do you like for us at QB and WR??

Most likely it’s whoever’s left of maye/Daniels at 3. Good with either.

If we trade down say with NYG at 6 my target is Penix Jr round 2. We get 6, 39, 47 in return. Thought hard about McCarthy here but decided on the route below.

6. Rome Odunze: Already was a fan before the combine but the shots of him staying on the field until he hit his desired 3 cone time made me an even bigger fan. If this is the work ethic we can expect sign me up.

34. Penix Jr: Pair him up with Rome.

39. Ladd McConkey/Xavier Legette: Add either of these two with Rome and Pop and suddenly we have something cooking with this wr group.

47. JT Sanders: start to rebuild our TE group.

68. Patrick Paul: Takes over for Tyron Smith in 2025.

Ras I think Giants have 37 and 47 in the Second Round I would be all over that Trade we could take Nabers also.

Nabers would definitely be in the conversation if he’s available at 6. Had him going to LAC at 5 but who knows what direction harbaugh goes.

NYG seems like a great trade partner if we’re not 100% sold on who’s left of maye/daniels and they are. Could really help us on upgrading the talent on offense.
