Trade UPs?? When was the last time one worked out??

Jeff, we've come to expect such insightful analysis from you that this comes as a bit of a surprise. They weren't worried about the Bears taking him, they were worried about another team trading with the Bears and taking him...

The Bears did take a DE the following pick, this leads me to believe they werent really shopping the pick. But I stand corrected, that is a good example. But of all the trades we have done I think it noteworthy that there are very few(2-3 tops)trade-ups that have "worked". Especially considering all the monday morning general managers here that covet such a trade. That Chad Jackson trade should still be stinging a bit I would think. And this is the first spring we can talk trash about him without the forum blowing up,lol.

The Jags moved up for Derrick Harvey, and then moved up again in the 2nd round to get a favorite of many on this board, Quentin Groves. They were coming off a playoff loss to the Pats and felt that with a better pass rush they could challenge Indy. Didn't work out too well last year. KC got Dorsey at #5 last year, even though he was generally considered the top player in the draft. He didn't do too much for them his first year out, but it's early. I'm not sure how his skills will translate to their new scheme.

If, 2 days before the draft last year, anyone had predicted that Baltimore would trade back from 8 to 26 and then trade back up to 18 to get Joe Flacco, we would have all called them crazy. I'm assuming some similar things will happen this year, particularly with all the talent clustered together.

Ahhhhh That's right, it was Harvey.... It was Dorsey that many thought might end up going to the Jets....

I could see BB doing something similar to what the Ravens did last year... Not saying it's likely, but it might make sense to really, really want 2 key players to build around in the future....

2 studs = 2 studs every day of the year.....

It definatly wasn't Dorsey because the Jets had just signed Kris Jenkins. I believe that this is the best scenario for us, Trade up and get a stud like Curry or Raji and then go Barwin, Beatty, Delmas, English...whoever you want.

While I was laughed at when I said C.Long would "bust", there are plenty of posters each year crying for us to trade up for a binkie. Recent memory has me thinking about Chad Jackson and Daniel Graham, but I also remember us having to get Fryar at #1(?!?). Can anyone remember this administration EVER trading UP for a pick that worked out??.

Chris Long is a bust? He had 4 sacks on a team that almost nobody needed to pass on.

Also, how is Graham not a success? He played 90% of the snaps of his rookie contract, and got signed for one of the biggest contracts at his position, ever.

That Chad Jackson trade should still be stinging a bit I would think.

Why? The kid blew out his knee as a rookie. We could have drafted Greg Jennings and had the same thing happen while Chad Jackson was a probowler in green bay.

Players get hurt. Theres nothing you can do about it.

I think this was your most intelligent post to date....

Jeff- considering how out in left field a lot of your posts have been, you really shouldn't be talking about other people's intelligence.

Jeff - There have been 5 trade ups that have worked for the Pats that have been listed. How many have they made since BB took over. The only ones that didn't work out are Bethel Johnson and Chad Jackson.

As for talking trash about Jackson, you can be a fool and do that, but he's still in the NFL. And just because he didn't gain the trust of Brady doesn't mean he won't be able to gain the trust of Orton.
