- still a top WR, high end #2 at worst
- unlikely to come to NE as a free agent
- brings credibility to team, he is a star and well respected across the league
- won’t take much and late round draft picks are basically useless
- Pats have the money
- if Higgins gets tagged the free agent WR market is junk
- history of high level performance in cold weather (Green Bay)
Cons
- huge cap
- getting older
Maybe try a trade and contract redo,
No way I want to take that salary and he wouldn't be my first choice but if he's cut I think you have to consider it. We pretty much have to consider anything.
D-Hop this year for KC was the definition of cooked. Thats what toast looks like.
No thats the other poster. I don't think Adams is toast. And it is your OPINION that Adams is there. You could be right. Or you could be dead wrong.

No way on earth you trade for a guy they have to cut. He's owed $70 million over the next two years. Why would you help a division opponent with extra draft capital. You consider him when he's a free agent.Pros

You don't get empty yards and TDs in the NFL without being a good player.
Of course he isn't what he was 5 years ago. Who cares. Draft a WR but you need a vet or two that can be that stop-gap
Jakobi Meyers is a good example of empty yards. He had zero impact in NE. Teams would allow him to get his short yard passes. But once the Pats got into 3rd in long or got to the red zone, they were dead to rights. Adams was supposed to be the savoir of all the Jets problems this season, but he clearly wasn't. That's just what I see with Adams. Rodgers is also cooked.I don't get how they are empty yards. Yards are yards unless they come in garbage time which I don't think is necessarily the case.
And I said he isn't the player he once was and I said odds are good the Pats aren't getting him even if they want him since he has a desire to play on the West Coast and/or with Rodgers.
I am just contradicting your opinion that he is toast. And at this point, it is an opinion.
There is no such thing as a receiver with "empty yards".Jakobi Meyers is a good example of empty yards. He had zero impact in NE. Teams would allow him to get his short yard passes. Wilson is very overrated. He's another good example of empty yards.Adams had as much impact on the Jets as Garrett Wilson did when they both played together last year. Actually, Adams out performed Wilson during the period they played together. Perhaps the Jets should cut Wilson. All the guy produces is empty yards.
And Adams wasn't going to be the savior of the Jets' problems last year. It was a move to appease Rodgers who was a shell of former self last year.
And Meyers was a reliable first down producing receiver when he was with the Patriots. He wasn't dynamic, but he produced first downs when the Patriots needed them in 2021. That year, he converted 42 first downs on 83 receptions. That is far from empty yards.
Wilson is very overrated. He's another good example of empty yards.
We see him plenty every year and I don't see the hype.Wilson had over 1100 yards and 7 TDs last year. I think you are confusing the talent and impact of a WR and the production of the overall offense.
If you have a crap o-line and a mediocre QB, the WR is likely to produce "empty yards" no matter how good the WR is. I guarantee you if Wilson was playing in say Buffalo, he would be a stud WR.
We see him plenty every year and I don't see the hype.
Plenty of WR's have shown more with bad QB's and have had impacts. Wilson just isn't that guy for me.He's on a bad team with no QB. We have never seen his full potential. He may never be what the hype is, but he is also a victim of the team around him. And Rodgers phased him out because they hate each other.
