Brown has a cap hit of 17 million next year that goes up to 31 million if he’s traded.

There is a 0.0 chance the Eagles increase their cap hit by 14 million dollars

Is it probable that the Rams let their starting left tackle walk in free agency? They have 46 mil in cap space, will have more when they dump Kupp... and they don't have too many big ticket free agents to sign this year... I don't think its realistic at this point... but, you never know...

Cooper Kupp is too old no thanks.

Good point. The downside of that scenario is that what they'd want in compensation would increase too.

Draft a player, you spend a pick on a gamble that he’ll do as well as you hope, payoff is a good player on a cheap salary. Downside is you draft Polk or Harry.

Trade a pick for an established player, you spend the pick on a known NFL performer. Payoff is an established contributor from day one, but at an elevated salary. Downside is the cap hit due to salary, and the usual season to season risk that comes with playing in the NFL.

We have the cap space. We need to hit with all draft picks, can’t afford to miss. Using them for trades pretty much ensures they are hits not misses.

Other than #4 I am all in on the strategy of trading for Vets. There are so many holes that we need to use all avenues to more talent that we can.

It shouldn’t. Unless he gets hurt, or totally implodes under pressure like Darnold. Even then there’s still a market, like we’re debating about Darnold. If he plays true to form and the rest of the team falls short, or just gets outplayed, his talent and skill is not diminished. If anybody else thinks he’s less desirable that’s great, he’s the same player and it costs less to get him.

would you go for a guy like Cooper Kupp? 32... often injured... but if he can play, he produces yards...

Take a waiver on him maybe. 1-2 years if you can make him a #2 it’ll help Mayes progression I’m sure. Obviously not a long term solution but well worth it if you’re not giving up any draft capital

Even if true, going this route is insanity. The WR’s the Pats have drafted since 1996 who were relevant were Glenn, Branch, Givens and Edelman. 4 players in almost 30 years.

They rarely draft WR’s. But when they do, it’s mostly in later rounds or they just flat pick the wrong guy when they have a higher pick.

Have to go trade/FA until proven otherwise.

If he’s healthy pay Chris Godwin a top tier but short term contract. He’s a free agent. No need to trade for someone, just pay him.

IMO paying to get players through FA is best option if good opportunities present. Fills roster holes, doesn’t trade away draft picks. I’d love to see the FO spend cap space wisely to build a strong middle class on the roster, possibly in addition to getting some key elite contributors. I’d prioritize building the middle class as more important.

That would be tough to swallow. A top 5 pick…..I think id do it though. Nice proposal.

But for that top 5 pick you would be getting not just a NFL #1WR but also a pick in the late 20s.....it would guarantee a hole filled and a late 1st to maybe fill another.

This is a much better option, to me, than just trading back which alot of people are interested in

That can only be done with cuts, not trades.

Obviously this is influenced by Vrabel getting hired...

Think philly would free up AJ Brown as a trade candidate? He's got a huge deal going on there... designate the trade as a post June 1 deal, they still eat ten mil in cap space. but pick up 6.8 in cap savings... probably not but its nice to dream
