I’m going to assume we win next week and lock up the 2 seed. We likely get the Chiefs at home and if win that it’s the Ravens which will definitely be on the road. That’s two tough games against sensational up and coming next generation QBs Jackson and Mahomes, who have already beaten us this year. The Ravens will have the MVP and a historically good rushing and scoring team. If we get through that there are some great teams in the NFC who could be waiting, like the 49ers who are a very good defensive and running team, the Saints with Brees, or the Seahawks with Wilson who would be the MVP without Lamar.

I can’t remember a tougher road, certainly not since the Peyton Manning era. I think it would be the most storied playoff run of BB and TB12 career if we can pull it off, and I couldn’t think of a more perfect way for TB12 to ride off into the sunset

Pats should’ve beat KC as crappy as they played. I think that game might be worse than the 2006 AFCCG.

If they can get passed KC, Baltimore will be extremely difficult.

So to answer your question, this is toughest test assuming they face both teams.

The Chris Jones imposter was talking a lot of s*** to Brady as well. I’d like to hear their exchange.

I think the 85 team was the one with the toughest road. New England was the first wild card team to play all 3 games on the road and reach the superbowl.

No worries. Patriots defense struggle when they have to defend both Run and pass. With Chiefs and Raven’s RB somewhat injured, I think the Patriots are going to be ok.

    2001:
Beat the Raiders who would go onto lose the SB the following year.

Steelers 13-3 that year and already packed their bags for the SB.

And the greatest show on turf.

Bedard says the Steelers loss is good news for NE but it needs a subscription. Does anyone know what the summary is?

The post suffers from recency bias. It's as if the poster doesn't realize that in 2001, it really was a fluke of sorts - the only way we won that game was by being perfect in the real, football (read, non-record football, in the trenches) sense. We had a rb we described as "a mudder" because he was pretty sure footed and never did much more than 3.5 ypc in a game. Some of those early tight ends... let's see, wasn't Arthur Love one of them? Receivers Brown, Patten and Givens, if in New England, were serviceable and by God, we loved them, but we all know what happened to our "star" receiver. "She" just never got with the program.

In 2003, the Pats going back to the SB was ehhhh sort of flukey, more like one of many teams playing at a fairly high level. Winning no. 2 was an exercise in "not a dynasty yet don't get ****y." The third one made it "official." Ironic, right? By 04, everybody was all like "okay we get it now." As usual, right about when the phase was over people saw that it existed.

We did NOT do those first 2 super bowl runs as favorites all the time... hanging a ton of points on the best D in the league after shutting down the best O in the league was necessary, in the Pix/Indy example. Everybody was still waiting for Peyton to knock the pretender out of his way and start this millennium's real, rightful dynasty.

So yeah, we have to beat some teams that SHOULD be better than us. Get the f*** over it, they'll also get a paycheck, and it won't be for playing patsy. It's football. They didn't get the memo about your NFL films movie of the week script.

    Swear to freakin gawd.

Okay didn't mean to go off on you, I know you're a good guy, etc., but don't you remember any of that stuff? We didn't always win all the freakin games all the freakin time.

Colonel Sanders? Oh, sorry, thought you wrote, KFC. Be careful what you wish for. I once wished for Claudia Schiffer and got Liam Neeson instead like an even worse version of the movie, Love Actually.

Not subscriber either, but Bedard probably writes that Titans, as 6 seed, probably have a better shot at knocking out the Chiefs as 3 seed at home than the Steelers do. Titans have already beat the Chiefs this year.

    Sans Jerome Boger.

I would say this looks like our hardest road so far because of the state of our own troops. However, I am heartened by the play of the “old” general, who, after some moments of self-doubt and self-pity mid-season, bolstered by his sidekick (a never-quit squirrel) has apparently decided he is not going down without a fight.

Can you tell I just saw the Newest Star Wars movie last night? ;-)

If Boger or any member of his crew officiates a playoff game, it will be a joke..
