Tom Brady says he's done "for good"

IMO that was a mini tank by BB to get a higher draft pick...possibly with Mac in mind. It worked.
Belichick is not the kind of person who would intentionally lose games for an entire season. Stats are NOT for losers when Bill is considering his own record as a head coach.

Agreed. Imagine keeping Cam to this day and what Bill's record would be ?

I don't know what you mean by "it worked" either. Because it hasn't in terms of team success. And as far as "getting the QB he wanted", he didn't have much of an alternative at that point. There were 5 QBs projected for that 1st round and Mac was the 5th off the board.

In no way shape or form did he or anyone think Cam was going to be successful especially in a new system at his age. He was the wrong type of player for the system and was used to help get other players on the team that might contribute in a year or so.
Belichick thought Cam would work. He absolutely did.

Just like Belichick thought Patricia would work. He absolutely did.

Bill's on his third OC in three season because the first took a head coaching job and the second was likely not his first choice. Either way, there's some context about that situation that you're obviously leaving out. He didn't put that sequence of events in motion, and it didn't help that Josh raided the staff to the point it was in the situation it was in this past season.
Maybe Belichick could keep his staff if he didn't suck dry the coaching budget every season with his ludicrous $25 mil per. There are reasons why he generally hires nobodies, first timers, family, and friends (still under contract with other teams).

Nah if there was a "tank" in 2020 they probably roll with Stidham and Hoyer as the QBs by committee the whole season. Would have been hard for BB to keep his job though with a 2-14 season after seeing what Brady did with the Bucs.
Yes. Playing Stidham would have yielded a top 10 pick at least.

Im not sure about that. Reports said Bill was surprised by Brady leaving and he signed Cam at the end of June off of the scrap heap. Bill knew Stidham was not ready to be the starter so he grabbed the best band aid he could. Turned out to be a disaster.

So however you want to parse it, Bill ****ed up.

Honestly, it has been a 3 year mess since Brady left culminating with the hires of Judge and Patricia last year. I hope BOB can bring some semblance of normalcy to the offense this year.

I'll ignore the first part about his salary and will say that the bigger problem is obviously the fact the lack of clarity about their positions and titles is probably the bigger issue. The mass exodus over the years and guys leaving as soon as they're out of their contracts is too big a trend to feel like there isn't a deeper issue here, with only the fiercely loyal guys being the ones that stick around. What's sort of interesting is the fact the ones who seem to get frustrated and bail are the ones off of the Belichick tree who tend to succeed - or have more success - after leaving, where as the fiercely loyal ones are the ones who seem to struggle.

Is it really an issue?

If you look at the coaches and front office types who have left they have all left for roles which advanced their career. It's not like they are leaving for lateral/lesser roles with other teams.

Maybe it's because they are content. Not every coach strives for career advancement.

That is whats most interesting. A wide majority of the coordinators who have left to become HCs have a poor track record.
