Tom Brady Retires (Update: Shouts out to Pats players, coaches on social media)

The guy had a escort-looking girlfriend before his wife’s body even went cold
If memory serves he started dating about a year after his wife died. What would be the acceptable period of time for him to wait in your opinion? Or is the problem that he had an attractive girlfriend, or in your words an “escort looking girlfriend.” Weird take.

Brady snubbing BB or Kraft is one thing. Snubbing Patriot's fans that sat in the rain, the cold, the snow, at Gillette, or watched literally every game he played in on TV is another. I'm disappointed he didn't find a way to thank us.
He paid you back in full (and then some) with his play on the field.

#12 is the GOAT, but am appalled by the lack of respect that he showed the Patriots and Fans.. after 198 picks he was chosen by the NEP, and the chance of even becoming an NFL QB was not overwhelming, however BB, Weiss and **** Reibehn saw something in him his abilities and work ethic. In 2001 he overtook Drew, to the dismay of many fans and many of the press, however the choice was a great one made by the Pats brain trust.

He had an outstanding career for the NEP and moves onto Tampa, where he has two more good years. Now he retires and thanks the whole wide world while excluding all of us and the team we root for. That is a pretty bush league move, and as I suspect this whole team sport becomes more about him and furthering his financial interests.

Even if he and BB had some sort of conflict, his exclusion of the Kraft Family and all of fans is a p...ss poor move on his part, he is better than this, or I was duped into believing he was.
Appalled? Jeez, talking about kicking the toys out of the crib. Grow up, grow a pair, man up, move on.

I get that many Pats fans feel like kids in a divorce. Some go with Mom, some with Dad, and some just stay mad. I also get that people had hoped that the minute he retired he would "come home" to us in New England.

Well, he didn't.

So now many fans are mad that he didn't mention the Pats in his retirement announcement. Are we in middle school? The popular boy didn't tag you in his social media post, and now you're mad? Stop. Clearly, the ink on the divorce isn't dry yet and feelings are still raw all the way around. Let this thing play out and see what happens.

At some point, y'all will realize that he's not one of us. Hasn't been for some time. He's not Everyman anymore.

The one day contract is a real contract legally even if you won't be active long enough to get paid. So there is a complication with the Bucs still having his rights and the fact that there is dead money associated with it that would need to be resolved.

That's a bit of work for the Bucs to essentially trade him for next to nothing and then also have to risk the dead money for some ceremonial 1 day retirement thing. Like I'm sure if Brady pushed the issue they would. But he'd have to REALLY want it.
Not a fan of these ceremonial one day contracts. That being said, Brady should do it and then the Pats should franchise tag him.

You talk about the so called « real » pats fan that sh*t on him for the last two years?

Tom literally thanked us two years ago when he left. He also did a 10 part documentary that aired during the season where he talk exclusively about his time in NE. Thanking everyone, pointing out how instrumental Bill was in his development etc etc.

But all the people are hang up on is he didn’t thank us in an instagram post. Tom Brady doesn’t owe us anything. In fact WE should thank HIM for all he has brought to this organization and to us

He had earn the right to finish his career in NE and got robbed of it by Bill and spineless Bob. I have 0 doubt in my mind that Brady would trade his SB in Tampa for the opportunity to finish his career in NE.
This…well except that I don’t think he’d trade in his Bucs SB ring to retire in NE. Tom’s a competitor and loves to win so I don’t think he’d ever give up a championship. Maybe he would trade the Bucs ring for another one in NE…maybe.

I don’t know but I have a feeling that he will become a part owner of the Patriots in the future.

unlikely, its a family business they will want to keep it in their bloodline

Thanks for the advice, but probably not.. his lack of acknowledgement of the Krafts, Pats Fans, BB and fellow teammates is pretty crappy (and deliberate).. on his voyage of life it has become more and more about him and his narcissistic leanings.. many teams would not have entrusted the 199th pick of the draft to take over the team in their second year. If he was not in this system, he may have just become another irrelevant player in the NFL who has been forgotten about.

Some of you needy locals show no class with all the crying you are doing about this.

Haha, the Bradyites will defend Brady at ALL costs, even if it's clear that Brady didn't handle his retirement the best way he could have...

I'm all for expressions of gratitude, I make them all the time, but also I don't get bent out of shape if other people don't make them, intentionally or unintentionally.

It's only a slight or an insult if you walk through this world with your slight/insult detector running at full blast ready to trigger at any instant.

I cannot understand the emotional attachment of fans. He's a great player and I loved watching him perform and win for NE.

You can't understand how fans establish an emotional attachment to a legend they cheered on for nearly a quarter of a century?

They just posted

Wonder if there is any subtle messaging in the fact that he's on a duck boat with Pats logo that has no passengers with him

This is all really ****ing wierd

I also can’t think of one team that would not have let the greatest Qb of all time finish on his terms. Don’t get this twisted. The Pats made it about them and their “system” two years ago and the Goat left and won elsewhere while we are in the middle of a multi year rebuild.

Needy is the word I was looking for.

Why are people here so needy?

The dude performed at a GOAT level here for 20 years, went on to another place for 2 years and still performed at a GOAT level, then decided it was time to do something else.

Isn't that enough?

Why do we need to parse through the size/shape/texture of the way the retirement was done, unless of course we need it it be done the way we want it to be done.

Eh. Those who don’t have an “emotional attachment” to Brady just show signs of an “emotional attachment” to BB. There’s no difference.

Either that or they're a psychopath

Ok, so we need to relegislate 2018-9 all over again too?

Let me introduce you to Peyton Manning, Joe Montana, and Brett Favre.

Why is it so difficult for people to understand that it was good for both to move on?

Brady has a right to feel whatever about his time with the Patriots, and maybe he gave in to his urge to disrespect them, since he evidently feels disrespect, BUT -- Brady has incredibly dunderheaded people around him, including Gisele, because they didn't advise him that this is beneath him and it makes him look petty. That being said, he's a grown man, if a dimwitted one, so at the end of the day, the pettiness is on him. If I were in the same position, I would do the thing that put my retirement in the best possible light, I certainly wouldn't distract from myself by creating this petty nonsense.

It's just stupid of Brady, but given his intellect, perhaps not surprising.

My two cents on this, I couldn't care less about instagram posts. I'm just disappointed he retired--dude threw for 5300 freakin' yards. Keep it going, compete! I HATE the "how you go out" stuff, so I hope that didn't play a part. Wish he had gone for 100k yards passing, another super bowl. Go to SF and win one! Whatever. So that's what I'm bummed about. Seems to me there was more story to be written.

Social media stuff? Snooze.

What about the teammates Brady played with on the Patriots for 20 years and 6 super bowls? Even if you say it's okay not to thank the fans, Kraft or bill.

Do they deserve to be treated as an afterthought?
