We were never going to keep him. He had a great 2015 and got injured when it mattered. He had a great 2017 but nothing that was irrepleacable.

He's been in the league 7 years and he's only played in 15, 9, 0, 0, 7, 7, 16 games in those 7 seasons. He's not reliable enough to pay and lets be honest, he's a guy who fit our system.

Mariota now has a big back (Henry), a waterbug (Lewis), and an excellent TE (Walker). His WRs could stand upgrading, and his OL is a bit overrated, but that's a fine start for the offense. It's going to be a matter of Mariota becoming what some think he can be, or not.
