Time to repent

I was not high on Vrabel or McD - it felt to me the organization was reaching for a semblance of yesteryear, only to look woefully behind the current contour of the NFL. I was very wrong.

In other news, I've found quite a few new crow recipes that are quite tasty.

i was very skeptical of Pop

i questioned his ability to make his reads and run the right routes.......never doubted his athletic ability and YAC potential

i am not 100% convinced he is ever going to be a cerebral receiver, but he is finally starting to come through on his potential

not sure if it is pop maturing or McD just being smart enough to get him closer to where he needs to be, but i am pleasantly surprised in Pops production
Ha I'm kind of wrong on Pop in the opposite direction. I thought more than Boutte he was primed for the breakout and while he's come around I'm going to use your term and say I think the cerebral might keep him from the heights I thought.

But hopefully he keeps getting more and more comfortable in this offense and still keeps getting better. Right now I just think he's a 50-60 catch guy which is still very good and no complaints I just thought maybe he'd get to 80 or even 100 like some of our other super slots. He's different than that even if he seemed reminiscent of it.

Yes I know.
So many for me

Did not want Will campbell
Campbell would be moved to G by week 7
Josh Simmons steal of draft
Pats would not win more than 6 games
MCcarthy and Nix better than Maye

But I also have some wins also

Knew it was time to get rid of BB 4 years ago

Draft Lamar Jackson

Draft Jaylen Hurts

Draft Ladd Mconkey

Hawkins has been better than I expected. Instinctive, fast Safety is still high on my want list

There are 2 Patriots I have been very down on

Hollins, while my concerns are real that he doesn’t produce as much as the snaps he plays warrants, the offense hasn’t been held back by his invisibility for long stretches, and he has had a couple of very nice games.

Elliss, keeps making the mistakes I am down on him for, but his athleticism is better than I realized and he makes some plays now and then. Still prefer Gibbens to be playing there but I have seen some positives in Elliss
Gibbens deserves more talk but as a special teamer. Guy makes tackles every game. Dare I suggest he might be better than Schooler.

I predicted 10 wins by this point in the season, and am willing to admit I was wrong, but 8-2 ain't bad.

I won't say I absolutely didn't want Vrabel, but I thought the hype for him was overblown, probably because he was a legend here as a player.

Also as I've said elsewhere when I first saw Maye's highlights I felt like he had a bad case of the happy feet, like if he even felt a fart's worth of wind around him in the pocket he'd take off. While I still think there's some of that there it's not as big an issue as I initially thought it would be.

One thing I absolutely nailed though, I was THRILLED when we brought Josh back. It made me feel less uneasy about the Vrabel hiring. I mean, come on people he OC'd the former Pats QB seemingly everyone in this fan base (except me) thinks is the Adolf Hitler of football to a 10 win season and a playoff appearance in his rookie campaign. That one felt like a no-brainer for me.

Also one I got right was Campbell, I couldn't care less about his alleged T-Rex arms. It's like Edelman once said "
Size matters not. Look at me. Judge me by my size, do you?"

Or maybe that wasn't Edelman...

We don’t call him “Wrong Borges” for nothing. God he is a turd.

“Who’s been wrong more than Charlie Casserly?” - BB, in a rare direct shot issued in public.

I didn't see Maye playing as well as he has. I thought he showed tremendous tools and potential last year, but still progress to be made a winning plays type of QB. I thought there'd be more growing pains than there have been so far this year. Basically the uneven sort of performances we've gotten the last 2 weeks is what I expected all year. I would still classify that as positive on him, but I didn't think he'd be ready to elevate a team's record like he has.

At his age and coming off injury I didn't think Diggs would be as good as he's been. I still think he's a weak #1 WR, but I thought he'd be a sorry attempt at a #1 WR so that's actually way better than I forecasted. None of that is to say I thought he'd be "bad" as a WR in general, I just didn't think he'd be anything resembling a #1 WR and he's been a close enough approximation to it. I'll also say that even though I thought Boutte could play, he's far exceeding my expectations. I thought he was a #4 WR type who could masquerade as a #3 but he's looking like a solid #2 or a GREAT #3 type.

I wasn't one of those "OMG Campbell has to move to LG because his arms are short" guys, but I did think he had a limited ceiling and I expected that ceiling as a rookie to need to be dialed back. So I was expecting below average LT play this year. He's playing at a level as high as I ever saw him reaching and doing it right away, so that's a massive upgrade from my expectations.

I wouldn't say it's been as impactful as the above players, but Tonga is the other guy who's far and away exceeded my expectations.

For the rest of the roster, I'd say Milton Williams, Morgan Moses, Mack Hollins, Spillane, Chaisson are all outplaying my expectations but not drastically so. Everything else I'd say has been roughly at the level I expected.

I really thought this team was mostly average all over, and TBH I still do think that. Hence, I'm still not ready to buy into us having playoff success commensurate with our 8-2 record yet. But the key improvements vs. what I thought we'd get in those 3 critical positions (QB, LT, WR) have us a team that I think is legitimately worthy of a top record and not just lucky to play enough punching bags to inflate the record. I was always hesitant to stamp a record prediction on the team because I thought our schedule was so underwhelming that the record wasn't going to be a full indicator of actual improvement/progress on the roster. With elite QB play, solid WR play and above average LT play, this team is way more legit than just lucky to play bad teams. I still think the roster overall has more average/ok than it does good or great and the top end talent is a bit weak, so I see those things being our undoing against teams better equipped for playoff runs, but this is still way better than I thought in so many areas.

Figured we probably shouldve drafted MHJ since he was considered a generational talent while Maye had many skeptics.
He is injured, and out for the season.

1) I was predicting fewer wins and missing the playoffs

2) I felt Mack Hollins was a Josh guy, but thought he would be far less significant to the offense than Chism or Williams (this is probably 3 confessions in one)

3) I wanted Ashton Jeanty and then a LT in the second round (this would have been a complete, unmitigated disaster)

4) I bet the under on PF2 posting the gif of Antonio Banderas kissing his fingers 500 times.

I was worried about Diggs, health and attitude....he behaved in his last 2 stops... until he became a serious headache.... been very happy with him so far, but we'll see if that continues S2/3.

Initially I didn't want MacDaniels back because I didn't want Maye changing systems, but I was wrong, MacDaniels is doing a great job with him. This team is far exceeding my hopes and expectations, I wanted them to be in the hunt for a Wild Card in December, and they are in the hunt for the first seed overall. They are 2 years ahead of expectations, that's amazing.

I thought they would win 9 games. They will hit that on Thursday night

I thought it would take another 2-3 years to become contenders
I still think they need another year or so to totally strengthen their team
But I would say they are in that category this year

I thought Maye would take a step forward this year
It’s fair to say he has taking one giant leap for mankind
