Time to repent

I was predicting 8 wins (or maybe only 7).
Obviously I was way off.

I thought the OL was going to be the same old story, maybe just slightly improved.

I doubted Diggs' ability to return to form after his injury, and expected the WR corps to be only slightly improved.

In other words, I felt the offense would still be offensive.

Thankfully I was way off.

I had the team at 10-7 which is feeling more and more like a miss these days.

I took a real wait-and-see approach with players, but I felt like Dugger was going to round back into 2022 form.

Around the league, I thought TEN was going to have a surprise breakout season and that we'd lose to them....

So many, how to choose ...

I preferred Josh Simmons to Will Campbell.

I preferred Ben Johnson to Mike Vrabel.

I hated the Josh McD re-hire.

Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa!
Ben Johnson is doing.a very good job I think. Still a ways to go but a big improvement there and he’s getting more out of Caleb Williams than I expected.

I woefully underestimated the..............

I said 9-8.

Needless to say except for running back and maybe the secondary, they have exceeded my expectations in every area- coaching included.

Honestly I think anyone who predicted a winning season is off the hook, even if we're talking 9 or 10 wins. They've exceeded every rational person's expectations. Expecting a losing season with Vrabel Maye and McDaniels after seeing what Vrabel and McDaniels have done with less was probably a little too pessimistic

All of that ^ and would just change two preferred Membou over Campbell. Also thought barefoot Hollins was nothing special: well he has proven me Rong!

We have a lot of posters that like to remind us of things they predicted correctly, I am certainly not immune.

In the name of accountability, what is your biggest miss 10 weeks in?

Mine is easy.
I did not want to rehire McD.
I thought his accomplishments were all due to BB and TB, as he never really accomplished much on his own.

I was 10000000000% wrong.
He has been a revelation and has the offense humming.

Big swing and miss by me on that one.
That we wouldn't be able to beat the Bills is my miss. I was totally wrong. I think we can all say we DID NOT see the team looking like this, this soon.

7 wins, and I would have been happy with that.

Wasn't a believer in Will Campbell coming out.

Still not thrilled they traded Joe Milton, although they did him a solid in the long run. I think he's better than Josh Dobbs, but whatever, it doesn't matter, because it's Maye or nothing.

I was wrong.

WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONGITY WRONG WRONG WRONG

Like many have said ... Diggs ...
I was 100% wrong ...
First - The ACL - Figured physically, we were getting someone that would be a shell of his old self
Then, the boat thing - Thought we may be in for another Antonio Brown, Haha...

I was so wrong, and he is 1000% more than I expected, and he's been nothing short of awesome so far - Especially as a Team Leader ... And his relationship with Coach Vrabel seems great.

Also, he has not won a SB ... And that seems like a motivating factor at this point in his career... Unlike AJ Brown ...

I didn't think Diggs would be very good, and I thought he may end up being a locker room headache.
I am happy that I was wrong about him.
After the first couple weeks I was very disappointed in Spillane, thinking he was all hype and no substance.
He's proved to be one of the most important D players/leaders.

I was wrong about our record. I predicted 7-10 or 8-9, can't remember.

I was very wrong about Drake Maye. I thought he fairly got a pass last year and this year the spotlight would be directly on him and his flaws would be apparent. He's been otherworldly. I haven't heard anyone on this board talk about his footwork in months. Though my biggest concern is his turnovers in important situations, and he did throw a pick in the end zone against the Bucs.

Figured we probably shouldve drafted MHJ since he was considered a generational talent while Maye had many skeptics.

I had them 13 wins. Diggs was the only one I have been wrong about, but when that boat incident came, boy did I think I was right about him lol.

I envy you all having things to repent about.

Best I can do is admit I was looking ahead to the next draft when Bledsoe went down in 2001 and they brought in a 6th round pick to fill in for him.

thought BB was a bad hire in 2000
thought bringing in Randy Moss was dumb because he was a malcontent

compared to those two goofs all others pale in comparison, so much so that they look like albino polar bears

Most recently for me I was off on Boutte.

After last season and his fast start to camp I should have completely bought in but I thought his training camp had slowed down a little and I am so glad I was wrong.

I think there were just a lot of receivers to work through and I think the team knew Boutte was on track to be a starter and they needed to sort through the rest. But thats just an excuse for my being wrong there was enough in the first 2 weeks of camp to believe that Boutte was ready to build off '24.
