Time to give props to two of this board's favorite whipping boys - Logan Ryan and Danny Amendola

Never thought id say this but we gotta find a way to keep dola. Guy is way too clutch. Maybe we can use the lost 1sr rounder's money on him if we weren't planning to have him long term.

I mentioned it in my game thoughts thread, but considering all the crap they have gotten on this board the last few years I think Logan Ryan and Danny Amendola deserved their own appreciation thread. Both had excellent games last night.

Danny Amendola had 7 catches for 105 yards last night. When Edelman started to get the dropsies, Amendola stepped up and became Edelman.

Logan Ryan has really brought his game to the next level over the last two games. If the last two games is any indication of his future play, he can be a solid #2 CB in this league. He broke up several big passes last night.

I totally agree about Ryan being a whipping boy, but not Amendola. Now now. DA came to life at the end of last season and hasn't looked back. That leaping catch today was one of the best.

They used safety help over the top on Marshall, so Logan Ryan wasn't really 1 vs. 1 with him.

Either way, he was his usual up and down self in my opinion. Maybe I'm too hard on him, but I don't feel comfortable with him back there. That said, we could certainly do worse, and I hope to see him continue to progress.
I thought I was the only one is bazarro world or something. I was about the post since when is a double team with a safety "1v1 on Marshal the whole game".

Yes, he had over the top help, but even very good #1 CBs get over the top help against a receiver like Marshall. There is no shame in that.

And Ryan gave up one big play to Marshall. He had a 29 yard reception. You take away that, and Marshall had three catches for 38 yards. You are minimizing what Ryan did today.

And even that dropped TD pass by Marshall should have been OPI on Marshall because he pulled Ryan down to the ground.

That catch he made in the air was outstanding...most guys drop that.

Fair enough, Rob. I'm not sure that I'd agree that there was clear cut OPI on the dropped TD pass to Marshall, but you make a fair point. For the record, I'm certainly not saying that Ryan had a "bad" game, just that he's too up and down to make anyone feel comfortable--at all.

Either way, I don't know how well it bodes for our CB play when Logan Ryan has been the most consistent (a term used loosely in this situation) CB through the first 6 games. Up until last week, I wasn't as sure that we needed to make a move at CB. After witnessing the past 2 games, I think it could be a key mid-season move.

If you see the dropped TD again, watch Marshall grab Ryan by the front collar and pull him down. It is clear cut OPI. Not as bad as the few Decker got away with earlier in the game, but it is clear.

I think Butler and Ryan will be ok as starting CBs. My concern is beyond that. This team needs a nickelback and more depth.
