Thursday’s game offers tremendous growth potential

That first half was like a glorified practice. Looks like a complete experiment on offense with rookie mistakes/occasional big plays all over the place but we're still up by 10. Only time will tell if it pays off

The only thing that grew tonight was the number of Patriots fans popping Valiums.

well the new punter got a lot of practice

Time will tell brother, you have to crawl before you walk. Tonight the rookies learned how to win, there are a lot players who have great statistics, but they don't know how to win.

The rookies learned how to drop passes, not how to win. The defense bailed their sorry asses out.

At this point, I just want a win and I'll take as many rookie mistakes as it takes for them to improve. If it's a 8-7 win off two FGs and a safety but the three rookie WRs each play 50 snaps, then I'll take it.

Hey, that actually worked out really well for me

the word is the sharps in Vegas went big for the Jets and the under this morning..shifting the line a full 2 points

This game was easy money taking the jets to cover. I only bet on CFB(and a lot), rarely do I bet on the NFL. And even I hopped on the jets +13..

The rain, the inept Jets offense with a rookie QB and Kerley out, and the confirmation of both Amendola and Gronk likely missing the game made this a pretty easy play, and I would imagine that anyone with 1/2 a brain in Vegas drove the line down.

I still think that if it had been single digits (-9 or -9 1/2) the Pats would've gotten a ton of action, but giving double digits under these circumstances was very questionable.

That said, I still had the NEP winning by 10 in the Official prediction thread, so I too figured they'd end up pulling ahead in the 3rd or 4th quarter.

It was even worse than I imagined. Actually it was probably worse than most of us imagined.

I didn't see much growth tonight, even though I definitely agreed with the OP's point prior to the game. Lots of concerns moving forward for sure, especially with real talent coming up from the opposition soon.

Actually it was what I expected.

Yes, I have concerns going forward against real talent so after another ugly win against TB I predict 3 losses in a row ATL, CINN and NO.

I'm down on the rooks, but I'm certainly not out on them. For as bad as they looked these 2 games. I still see some potential there, especially with Dobson. I expect it's gonna be a tough couple of weeks, but I think once these guys get the jitters out and some confidence....they'll make plays.

I'm for one relieved to be 2-0 right now..

Nope.

That's why I don't drink the kool-aid.
:yeahthat:
While i have the utmost respect for BB the coach (maybe GOAT) i'm not particularly enamored of BB the GM

1 out of 3 there could be about the best of a bad run.

I do think with a healthy Gronk an Amendola we have a chance in all 3 of those games though.

I think we need to back up and put things into perspective here..these guys are rookies playing their first NFL games and being thrown into the fire needing to be the #1 or #2 target and these are the kind of mistakes you are going to see from rookies who generally struggle their first year at that position

Clearly it looks like Dobson has skill at getting open down field..clearly there are going to be some growing pains there...but let's see what these guys look like later in the season and especially once gronk and amendola come back to take som of the pressure of them

It's a pessimistic outlook, but it's probably the one that is most likely to happen. This game showed us these rookies have light years to go. Brady doesn't have light years to wait. When Gronkowski, Amendola and Vereen all return (or even just 1 of them), rookies will be playing bench.

Clearly it looks like Dobson has skill at getting open down field...

Yup. One positive last night: No "Dobson can't get off the LOS" comments, at least not that I saw. Few folks on Twitter mentioned he actually did well there.
