Report: Redskins trying to schedule last-minute meeting with Gregg Williams

Gregg Williams was certainly one of the hotter defensive coordinators on the market this offseason. After successfully leading the Browns to a 5-3 record as an interim head coach, Williams’ wealth of his experience and ability to create aggressive, attacking defenses appealed to many teams across the league. In addition to this, Williams’ ability as a motivator definitely made him the apple of many teams’ eye this offseason.

The Jets were the ones who ultimately won the battle for his service. Adam Gase was going to bring him along to create a great offense/defense coaching duo and potentially bring the Jets back to relevance. However, no contract has officially be signed, and that is leaving the door open for other teams.

Now, it seems that the Redskins want to jump into the fray and get Williams
.

The 'Skins might actually be a better landing spot for Williams.

Their 2018 defense wasn't nearly as bad as the Jete (it was their offense that sucked), and they're not nearly as encumbered with 3-4 specific personnel under big contracts as the Jete are - lots of decent front-seven players who might be more easily converted to Williams' attacking 4-3. And Snyder will likely pay him a decent chunk of change.

Jets should hire Rex Ryan as co head coach and d coordinator.
