Julian Edelman doesn't tend to get the credit and respect he deserves around the league, but one former player took notice in a recent ESPN segment, putting him ahead of some notable names which created some controversy.

The value of a 6th round pick is not $500K against the cap, or real dollars.

Any team could do that, but it's not a cap-efficient way to accumulate draft picks.

There was no loss of draft picks for either team.

    Adam Caplan

Confirmed. Outside linebacker Chris Chamberlain, who was the Rams' 4th-leading tackler last season, has agreed to terms with New Orleans.

Bengals scoop up Jamaal Anderson | Pro Football Talk

The Bengals announced the signing of Derrick Harvey on Friday and they closed out the day by adding another former eighth overall pick in the draft.

Like Harvey, Jamaal Anderson is a defensive end and, like Harvey again, he hasn’t lived up to his lofty draft status. Anderson, who did what all the kids are doing these days by announcing his signing via Twitter, started 34 games for the Falcons in his first three seasons, but notched just 2.5 sacks in Atlanta. He did get two sacks in a reserve role in 2010 and upped his career high to three sacks as a rotational player for the Colts last season. He’s not a bad run defender, though, and he showed some versatility by playing some defensive tackle in Indy.

Harvey and Anderson will likely take the places of Frostee Rucker and Jonathan Fanene in the Bengals’ defensive line rotation. They haven’t been as productive as Rucker and Fanene during their careers, but perhaps they are just late bloomers who will live up to their draft status now that they are in Cincinnati.

Just not so well that extra - or any - effort needed to be made to sign the JAGness of
    Slater, White & Niko.

Slater and White were our 2 best special teams players last year.
White and Niko were signed for minimum contracts.
Our special teams were very good last year

Can you blame him? He has been the Bears Offense and hasn't been rewarded for that service as yet.

But like other have said...the RB position has some of the most turnover. Look at those like Alexander, Larry Johnson ect. He's good..but chicago knows RBs can change like the wind.

    Adam Schefter

Jeff Saturday's two-year deal in Green Bay is worth $7.75 million, including $4 million this season.

Saturday has had a great career. However, considering he will turn 37 a month before training camp starts, that sounds like a lot of money to be paying for his services. Seems to me that the Packers would have been better off either spending a little more and re-signing Scott Wells, or out-bidding the Pats for Dan Connolly, or gone after Samson Satele. To me it makes the Pats look like they got a bargain with the deal they signed with Connolly.

That is a ridiculous deal for a player that should be considering retirement.
Koppen would have been a better choice.

Saturday is a good center but that's way too much money. I would have wished Peyton good luck for that coin too.

Better on their cap than ours. I just still have a hard time with thinking 37 is old and should be put out to pasture. I just turned 40 and still have the "You want a piece of this?" mentality. Can't help it.

If time passes and Koppen is still out there, who knows, we might even end up re-signing him.

WR Steve Smith (the former Giant and Eagle, not the Panther) signs with the Rams

    Steve Smith signs with Rams

With the Giants in 2009, he set a franchise record with 107 catches for 1,220 yards (second-most in team history) and went to the Pro Bowl.

Smith was villifed by Giants fans for signing with the Eagles and attacked on Facebook when he signed. There also seemed to be a difference of opinion about his health and time frame for a return to the field between the Giants and Smith's camp.

Seriously. In his position, I would hold out too. He already tore his ACL last year, and RBs don't last too long with the kind of usage that they're subjecting him to. It's just good business sense for him, especially since he already played out his "prove it" year and was a good soldier last season. Another season like that rarely pays out over the course of a RB's career, even if he does, in fact, "prove it". I'm sure that the bears know that too, which is probably why they haven't paid him already.

He sprained his MCL, and even reappeared in the Pro Bowl in January.

I do agree with your thoughts though.

Resigning Koppen for a fair deal certainly isn't out of the question.

He has certain attributes that he brings to the offense that are certainly positives, despite his downward production vs the interior rush.

I wouldn't mind Koppen returning for another yr or even two, depending of course on the deal.
