Hey, it was fun while it lasted. I could've kept it going for another 10 pages, but I felt bad when you started calling each other out.

Anyway, good luck next year!

:rocker:

You didn't keep it going at all.

It was obvious the second you posted, TROLL.

Forever, Every Championship, In Every Sport....

I wasn't expecting everyone to "pop a blood vessel", but I didn't expect complete delusionment either.....
I keep hearing "AFC title game, first round draft picks, BB and Brady, blah blah blah."
Everyone seems to have their eyes closed. You don't feel that we got lucky in SD? You don't feel that we were dominated in Indy? You don't feel that we got lucky to play (much less win) in two Superbowls? You don't feel that our defense is getting old? You don't feel that we've lost too many valuable players? You don't feel that the other teams feel that we are no longer invincible? You don't feel that Indy has always had the better team, but we just were lucky to play them at home and get the benefit of the refs?
That's all I'm asking.

i've been watching pro sports, seriously, since about 1958.
IMHO Good Luck contributes to every championship in every sport, every year.
injuries, bounces of the ball, serendipitous calls by refs, scheduling, weather.
variables not under the control of the players or the caliber of the coaching.
however, good teams do seem to make their own good luck.
for three decades i watched the patriots have the untimely injuries, the harebrained trades, ugly draft picks, bad bounces, ridiculous calls by refs. i'll not offer any examples you should know what i'm saying.
BTW same for redsox.
jim rice breaks his hand 3 weeks before world series against cincy.
pitchers get hit in head by batted balls.
sullivan "forgets" to re-sign fisk, lynn, burleson.
"what would we do with willie mcgee?"
a couple baaaaddd calls on plays at home plate.
tony c gets hit in the eye with a pitch.
world series, 4 players had career years. the whole "idiot" thing took off.
the yankees blow a freaaking 3-0 lead.

yeah, the tuck rule call was correct, but still unbelievable. i still smile when i think of it.
justice for raiders, decades after "roughing the passer" against sugar bear hamilton. the '76 patriot team would have won the SB that year except for that call.
perhaps you remember a game against the bills, in the 01-02 season. david patten leapt to grab a ball on the sidelines, got knocked unconscious by a safety, and fell half-in, half-out out of bounds with the ball in his lap.
the ref ruled that altho patten was out of bounds, the ball was still in bounds, and gave the patriots a crucial 1st down. patten made an incredible catch, hung onto the ball in spite of getting clobbered, and the ref gave him the call.
yes, that's luck d%#*!@t.
and the good, strong, hustling teams are the ones that get it.
in the team sports, sports, luck seems to be earned, not given.

That's all I'm asking.

1. our defense is getting old.
the 5 guys playing in the DL rotation are all in their 20s.
colvin and banta-cain are in their 20s. vrabel is 30. bruschi & seau are ancient.
hobbs, samuel, wilson, scott, hawkins, are in their 20s. rodney and tebucky are old.

2. lost too many valuable players.
i miss chatham. he'd certainly have done better than alexander in indy. mcginest would have been superior to banta-cain.
the blow-off of givens and branch cost us the AFC championship. caldwell is in no way a replacement for either of those two.
IMHO the losses of weis, FAC, and mangini have hurt worse than any of the free agent losses.

3. other teams feel we are no longer invincible.
true. but they still gotta go out on the field and beat our boys. what other teams feel is nowhere near as important that what other teams can DO.

4. indy has had a better team for years.
i would agreee. but this patriots team has consistently beat better teams for 5 years. "you may be better, but you still can't beat us".generally the team with the demonstrably better QB wins close games.
indy finally got to play us in that dang dome. they earned that in the regular season. when they had to come to foxboro for playoffs, it was bacause pats EARNED it, not due to chance.

Dude dont even try to explain stuff to a troll. They will never listen. He is just a dip **** who needed to come over and show off that his team finally didnt choke.

Unfortunately, the end is here. Just like all good teams that had runs, it has to end (some quickly, some die a slow death). Face it, we really don't have a great team. We were totally outmatched in SD, but Marty ball and stupid mistakes kept us in it. We had a monster lead in Indy, and got beat up and down the field in the 2nd half. The ONLY reason we stayed in it was because of Indy's terrible kick coverage. We started every series close to midfield!

I know everyone wants to cry about the officials, but come on..... has any team benefited more from bad officiating more then us? Honestly, we wouldn't have went to two SB's if it weren't for the officials. If we can't get home field, then we're done. That's our real advantage. Indy dominated us in the 2nd half. They've learned how to win ugly like us.

I think we should start rebuilding. This patchwork team is about the 6th best in the AFC if you look at it realistically.

flame away........
wow this post is prob. the stupidest one ive seen in a while.
a.) ur dead wrong about the san diego game....sure the chargers were more talented than us, but the patriots outplayed them in that game and they were not outmatched.
b.)do u even know what martyball is? if the chargers had played martyball in the 2nd half, they would have won.
c.) i love ur comment about home field advantage.....yea the pats really needed home field advantage in 2001 when they beat the steelers on their home field in the afc championship and i guess they needed it in 2004 when they beat pittsburgh AGAIN on their home field in the afc championship again.
d.) 2 of the first 28 picks in the 2007 nfl draft belong to the new england patriots
e.) the 25 million + avaible payroll the patriots have(not sure of the exact number)

I'm not referring to the rule if it's called correctly. I'm talking about the actual call during the game. Ask anyone other then us, and they will say it was a bad call at a terrible time. You just don't make that call in that game. I don't know how many times you watched the replay, but it was incredibly lucky.

and I can't stand the Raiders.

actually that call was made in a game vs. the jets previously that year

The jury is still out on Kaczur, who was terrible in the SD game and the Pats were unable to run to his side.
i disagree here, i thought kaczur was tremendous in the SD game, both he and light did a terrific job on merriman and the rest of their pash rush. and u say they were unable to run to his side. well considering the pats only had 48 rushing yards, it seems to me that they were unable to run to either side
Actually, the 2006 draft is still subject to review you really can't say it turned out good. IMO, this draft is starting out on the wrong foot. If the '06 draft doesn't pan out (i.e. Maroney and Jackson are busts), that will make 2 poor drafts in the past 3 years - not a good track record.
of course you cant judge the 2006 draft the next year, it takes about 3-4 years to be able to evaluate any draft. you cant say it has turned out either good or bad, but u must say its off to a good start. maroney was 3rd amongst rookies in rushing yards, gostkowski lead all rookies in points, maroney lead all rookies in kickoff return yards averaged. sure jackson didnt come in and become the #1 wr or the #2 wr but wide recieivers in the pats system take a while to develop. jackson had more touchdown receptions than deion branch did in his rookie season. that stat maybe be deceptive, but it is still true.
I'm going to be blunt and say Watson sucks. He's an awful blocker, drops way too many passes, doesn't usually get open, and developed a case a fumble-itus. In the second half of the season, I cringed every time a pass was thrown his way. His per game numbers were dropping when Brady developed chemistry with the WRs.
first, watson is not an awful blocker. he is better than your butt boy david thomas and has shown great improvement in his blocking in the past few years. his numbers dropped because he wasnt playing because of injury the last 3 games. just because watson didnt live up to the antonio gates projection that everyone put on him, isnt his fault. he still was the 2nd leading reciever(if he stayed healthy most likely would have been the #1 leading reciever) and progressed tremendosely from the previous season. now whether or not he can progress even further from this season to next season remains to be seen. and maybe if the pats get a few more threats on offense to go along with watson, some of the pressure will be taken off of him. so to say that he sucks is just simply ridiculous.
If Laurence/Chad are busts, it will be 2 bad drafts in 3 years. Not good.

yes, and also if Laurence/Chad prove out to be studs, it will be 2 good drafts in 3 years. Very Good.

You actually *watch* Dr. Phil?!!!

Btw, how *is* that working out for you?

Not bad actually. Dr. Phil is a turncoat and a menace to the male species. Any of you with significant others need to stay abreast (pun intended) of what he's telling women.

In the coming weeks I'll be working on my new website, DrPhil-Alert.com to help provide men with the fair warning they deserve before walking in the door after a hard day at work.

Frankly it was fun for us too! It's fans like you who truly help give PatsFans our superiority complex and reaffirm what most think of Colts Fans.

In a few decades when you are a little more knowledgable about the game of football, stop back and see if you do any better at fooling anyone.

I liked the Indy fan who had this to say about the troll:

"Loser.

Only men with self-esteem issues troll another team's board."

My only question is what makes anyone think he's a man? I'm guessing Jr. High School.

I guess this is payback for all the johnny come lately Patriot fans who trolled over there. Guys like this make everyone's fans look like losers.

Dog...your name fits, wear it well. You find the need to rip on a classy contributor to our group here and I question why. I reviewed most of your posts and it make me think your IQ is on a level of a dog and a mutt at that.

Do you intend on ever contributing one solitary informative, knowledgeable or interesting point to this group?

You come here intent on ripping on Pats players, Pats Superbowl wins, Patriot management, play calling, fans and contributors to this site.

You say you hate Patriots and their fans, you say you do not root for SD or Indy - who do you root for?

Why do you come here anyway, a solid contribution - one time - would be nice?

My hunch is that this Dog is a fan of the Titans. He has contributed nothing of value thus far, and there's no reason to expect that to change.

The Titans please. I will change my opinion of Joe6pack though. He posted about the bandwagon pats fans or the johnny come lately's. I'm a New Englander, but have never liked the Pats. Didn't use to hate them though. As I have stated before I hate them, not for their players, but their fans. I'm not talking about many of the posters here. It seems that most of you guys have a decent knowledge of the sport and are true fans. I happen to know many people who were once fans of the fins, cowboys, 49ers, raiders who are not patriot fans. Many of these people seem to think that the NFL started in 2001. Most of the posters here seem to be legit, you have your share of unabashed homers, but no fan base is w/o that. I get annoyed with the fans who proclaim they have this vast knowledge of the game and that the Pats are the greatest team when they can only name a handful of players let alone talk about the actual game. I don't expect everyone to understand the zone blitz or the morphing of the 3-4 and 4-3 cover2 or 3 or whatever else you want to talk about.
I came to this site with bad intentions and for that I apologize. I wanted to read the excuses and the whining of fans. I have been insulted by some of you, I don't appreciate it. it is misguided, but i brought it on myself. I am a big fan of football, I still at my advancing age enjoy playing, I go to games every year, mostly Patriot games actually, but I do travel. The fans at Gillette are awful (not all). The abuse that gets heaped on fans of other teams only happens there. I would never wear the jersey of any other team there, I could never enjoy the game that way. Very childish. I really wish the Yankees suck chant would go away, its football guys. I do hate the Yanks more than I hate the Pats though. Anyway good luck in the draft but not too much. I will stop by from time to time to read, I enjoy some of the threads. Some of them are actually informative some useless drivel just like every other board I visit. I visit about 12 teams boards. I won't post anymore. I hate trolls on my team's board so I know how you feel about me. We get a ton of trolls on ours. You can keep guessing if you want about my team, but I'm gone.

Hey Dog...........

Why couldn't you have started this way. You sound like a decent guy.

My guess, you are a NY Giants fan, based on your New England roots, hatred for the Yanks.

There are many Giant / Red Sox New Englanders, my Grandfather was one and my office GM is - we don't talk football because he is abused by Patriot fans and doesn't realize I understand his plight.I am also pissed at him, as I congratulated him when his Giants made the Superbowl - but he did not have the decency to give back to me when my team won it all in 2001 - so, screw him.

I understand exactly what you refer to about the NE bandwagon fans of 2001. They jump on and off as fast as you can say Pats win.

I also understand the immature behavior of some fans toward fans of other teams that come to our stadium. Usually, though it is the obnoxious attitude of the opposing fan that comes to our house and acts like a true fool, they get all the abuse thrust upon them that they deserve.

This group, for the most part consists of a group, IMHO, of amazingly intelligent posters about this team, it's history and the NFL. Yes, we are Patriot fanatics, that is why we subscribe, can;t get enough patriot news 24/7/365.

So, why don't you consider sticking around and please do contribute a little bit and let's talk some real football.
