Obi is our #6 CB. We suit up 4. We have 5 signed through next year. We carry 5 CB's. All active backups need to play special teams.

If you wish to consider him a safety. He is the #5 safety. I suppose he a chance to be #4 next year.

New blood, yes. Much of a future, no.

I like him too! And I'm also glad that he's still in the building...the back of our secondary is in serious need of new blood...and No, Terence Brooks does not count.

McCourty is a FA, Harmon will be if he doesn't renegotiate, Chung is 32, and Ebner doesn't count.

I don't know if Obi is good enough, but safety isn't like CB, where I agree there is no future beyond backup.

Scooby is back!

Scooby is back!

Don’t hate it. He was impressive in the fourth preseason game, after only a few days with the team. Loved his energy and aggressiveness. Seems like he is a little bit crazy, in a good way. At a minimum seems to have the potential to be a top special-teams guy.

I'd rather have Obi than Scoobi.

Waiting for them to bring in Dwayne Allen.

Is he over the knee issues he had since his procedure this summer?

He has been quiet since negotiating that settlement with Miami.

Have not heard. It sounded like he intended to play, but I did not hear a time frame. Would be nice bookend with Izzo.

Based on what?

My elite instincts for spotting future top special teams players.

Ok, how about core special teams players.

Slightly OT:

I thought this was pretty neat. AJ Francis, who was on our practice squad a while back on how BB values all 53 men on the roster. Stuff we, of course, already know, but it’s always nice to hear it from former/current players. Skip to about the 8:00 mark.

Thanks for sharing.. I agree that it's always good to be reminded of it because a lot of what BB does is also applicable to what we do in life, especially those of us who are in the position of managing people.

For those keeping score, Cody Kessler gets #6.

That jersey was most recently worn by Ryan Allen; others with #6 include P Chris Hanson, QB Rohan Davey, P Jeff Feagles, P Al Herline and P Mike Hubach.

TE Jason Vander Laan has #82, which was originally worn by Jim Whalen. Amara Darboh and Will Tye had that number in the 2018 offseason; WR Maurice Harris had it in the 2019 offseason. It has also been given to Alge Crumpler, Josh Boyce, Daniel Graham and Vincent Brisby, among others.
