Based on how Piolichick traded OUT of their 1st and 3rd round picks in exchange for 2008 picks, it's clear the Patriots thought this year was a really weak draft, and didn't want to waste picks on players who wouldn't upgrade their squad. Based on Mel Kiper's list for next year, it should be a much stronger crop of players a year from now. Going into day two, look for us to find a few gems to develop over the year.

The Patriots might not do much in the draft this year, but they did get a super playmaker in Meriweather, and made multiple huge splashes in free agency, so it will still be an exciting training camp.
