The Patriots DON'T regret hiring Bill Belichick

Fail

Perhaps you should compare rosters. The 2004 defense had Seymour 1sr round pick, Warren 1sr round pick, McGinest 1st round pick, Law 1st round pick. Rodney Harrison belongs in the HOF. Law was just put up for the Hall. The 04 roster was loaded with 2 time Super Bowl Champs - Bruschi, Phifer, Vrabel.

The point is that Belichick doesnt have that kind of talent on this NE defense and it will be his finest coaching job if this defense can stop teams like Pittsburgh, Atlanta and Dallas and win a SB Championship.

1) Google who was playing in our secondary in the 2004 playoffs.

2) Google how they beat the single season QB TD record breaker (at that time) Peyton Manning in the AFC Divisionals with both their starting CB's in street clothes and Earthwind Moreland, Randall Gay and Troy Brown playing in the secondary.

3) Google how they had to actually go on the road to beat a 15-1 team in Pittsburgh.

THIS year's playoffs is a cakewalk compared to that. The Texans are a joke. KC or Pittsburgh this year are nowhere near either of the 2004 Colts or the 2004 Steelers..

Can the Pats lose next week or the week following? Sure. But your statement "His resume speaks for itself, but Belichicks biggest challenge awaits him. The NE defense will have to stop either KC or Pitt offenses for the AFCC crown. KC is 2001 NE Pats like good. They make plays when needed and score enough points to win. Pitt is a wide open attack chewing up large chunks of yardage with a plethora of good WRs coming out of the wood work."

..........is laughable compared to what they faced in 2004. Facing Indy and Pitt in 2004 with Earthwind Moreland, Randall Gay and Troy Brown playing in the secondary was a different universe of "challenge" compared to playing Houston next week and then maybe Pitt or KC at home the week after.

Anyone who thinks playing the 2016 Houston Texans QB'ed by Brock Osweiler and without JJ Watt in Gillette and then either this year's versions of KC or Pitt the week following also in Gillette is a "bigger challenge" than what the 2004 team faced is completely delusional.

I dont need to google.

This years roster on defense is not as good as 2004. Only a fool would argue that this roster is as good.

Yep. The mojo gods decended on that team all at once.
Patten makes a key late catch in overtime against the Bills, but is knocked out by Buffalo defensive back Keion Carpenter and fumbles the football. But on replay review, Patten’s (unconscious) head rolls out of bounds while his body is touching the football that lay “live” at his feet. By rule, the ball is out-of-bounds and New England retains possession. Two plays later, the Patriots kick the winning field goal.

Obviously, the only thing you Googled was the OPENING DAY roster. Poole and Law were IR'ed before the playoffs.

The COMPETITION was far better in the 2004 playoffs. That was the challenge.

But if you want to compare putting the 2004 Patriots secondary (already missing their 2 starting CBs) against the record breaking Peyton Manning in the divisionals to playing the Texans next week, go ahead, make my day.

Then compare playing a HOME game against the 2016 KC/Pitt with playing the 15-1 Steelers in Heinz Field with that same patchwork secondary and a 104 degree ill Brady who had to take IV the night before, go ahead again, make my day.

This should be fun.

Like I said. A fool will argue.
