Fail
Perhaps you should compare rosters. The 2004 defense had Seymour 1sr round pick, Warren 1sr round pick, McGinest 1st round pick, Law 1st round pick. Rodney Harrison belongs in the HOF. Law was just put up for the Hall. The 04 roster was loaded with 2 time Super Bowl Champs - Bruschi, Phifer, Vrabel.
The point is that Belichick doesnt have that kind of talent on this NE defense and it will be his finest coaching job if this defense can stop teams like Pittsburgh, Atlanta and Dallas and win a SB Championship.
1) Google who was playing in our secondary in the 2004 playoffs.
2) Google how they beat the single season QB TD record breaker (at that time) Peyton Manning in the AFC Divisionals with both their starting CB's in street clothes and Earthwind Moreland, Randall Gay and Troy Brown playing in the secondary.
3) Google how they had to actually go on the road to beat a 15-1 team in Pittsburgh.
THIS year's playoffs is a cakewalk compared to that. The Texans are a joke. KC or Pittsburgh this year are nowhere near either of the 2004 Colts or the 2004 Steelers..
Can the Pats lose next week or the week following? Sure. But your statement "His resume speaks for itself, but Belichicks biggest challenge awaits him. The NE defense will have to stop either KC or Pitt offenses for the AFCC crown. KC is 2001 NE Pats like good. They make plays when needed and score enough points to win. Pitt is a wide open attack chewing up large chunks of yardage with a plethora of good WRs coming out of the wood work."
..........is laughable compared to what they faced in 2004. Facing Indy and Pitt in 2004 with Earthwind Moreland, Randall Gay and Troy Brown playing in the secondary was a different universe of "challenge" compared to playing Houston next week and then maybe Pitt or KC at home the week after.
Anyone who thinks playing the 2016 Houston Texans QB'ed by Brock Osweiler and without JJ Watt in Gillette and then either this year's versions of KC or Pitt the week following also in Gillette is a "bigger challenge" than what the 2004 team faced is completely delusional.
