Do you want Will Campbell at 4 assuming Hunter and Carter are off the board?

Very few get excited about an offensive linemen. I'm not "excited" about landing Campbell. I dont need to be excited to realize the value a left tackle has on a football team. McMillan would've been more "exciting." That doesn't make it a better pick.

This may be true of fans in general, but you’re on a dedicated draftnik board. People here get very, very excited about offensive linemen. I can assure you that Nate Solder at #17 overall didn’t bore us one bit.

We’re not excited about Campbell because we don’t think he’s the kind of elite o-line talent you expect to reap at #4. For perspective, in Solder’s year Tyron Smith, a MUCH stronger prospect than Campbell, went #9.

If Julio Jones, AJ Green, Patrick Peterson and Von Miller was in this draft, perhaps Will Campbell would have fallen to nine too. They weren't and it's not even close outside the top two prospects.

In a discussion about BPA I said that rather than viewing players in a strict numerical order (prospect 3 on your big board is BPA over prospect 4 or 5 for eg), you should look at them in tiers ( prospects 3,4 and 5 have similar grades and you should take the one that best improves the team). Read paragraph 2 from Vrabel:

Being a BPA guy I agree with that. I don't think anyone suggested there is only one BPA at any/every pick.

Recognizing that, no-one in their right mind thought Polk was in the same clump as DeJean, and the Pats chose Polk.

Or Ladd

Too bad they don't have wider shoulders in the equipment room. I say that in jest. I'm the biggest Will Campbell honk on the planet.

Dude has the shortest wing span ever recorded for a tackle at the Combine. >78”

Having him man LT is probably not going to work.

The Penn State TE is looking like the pick for the Patriots at 4. If they were smarter.

From the sound of it, NFL teams didn’t even view Warren as the best TE product in the class.

It sucks that there wasn’t a transcendent talent in this draft at 4 but I think we got a solid and badly needed protector for Drake, arm length be damned.

Should've doubled-up at Both LT And WR: Kelvin Banks & Logan Brown and Jaylin Noel & KWilliams/Jalen Royals.

3-Tech, Center and Not the Son of Either Charles or Rod could've waited until later on Day 3... Or next year.

Campbell was a polarising player before the draft and will probably be so throughout his career, no matter how good or bad he ends up being.

I personally thought this was the right pick.

Maye needed to be protected and the O Line last year was an absolute indictment, not worthy of any NFL level team. They couldn’t put that same product out this coming season and expect Maye to make it past about week 8!

I know the issues on arm length and wingspan, and they are genuine concerns. But at some point, someone is going to break the mould and his body of work in the SEC suggests that if that’s going to happen now then he’s the guy to do it.

Simmons was too much of a health risk and for all the concerns people had with Campbell, who is a genuine LT, some were still happy to take Membou at #4 even though he’s a RT and would had to have come in and start a position he’d never played before! They could have taken Banks, but considering the consensus was Banks would definitely be a G not a T what good would that have been?

Playing roulette by drafting down and hoping to have gotten a (imo, inferior) T later in the round would have been exceedingly risky.

Sometimes you have to take the player you want in the draft spot you’ve been assigned.
