After Brady throws a pick, are you upset with his lack of effort to tackle?

Re: Official Pats-Bills postgame show/thread

The O-line played a great game, for the most part. The only real gaff was on almost sack by Merriman.

I'd add the one bad and obvious holding penalty by light on a running play 2d and 1 inside the Bills territory when the Patriots could have made it a two-score game.

Other than the red zone interception, I really thought at the time that was the most significant play of the game.

Re: Time to give up on the one gap 43 aggressive D that cant stop anyone

This is BY FAR the worst defense this team has played since BB has been here. Worse than 02, worse than 05.
Can we please go back to what has worked for a decade and give up on the experiment that has failed?

I don't know about you but I'm seeing the same old sh*t we've been running for the past 4 years....

Re: Bill O'Brien Lost this Game

Lots of blame to go around.

Tom was awful. Chad was awful. Not running the ball more was awful.

Even with all that, the D still sucked. Zero sacks and two QB hits is not a sufficient pass rush to win anything.

The thing that was awful that is hardest to fix is the pass rush, though.

Re: After Brady throws a Pick...

Well if your afraid he will get hurt, lets play Hoyer until about week 10 or so.

One play can win one game. One game, could be the difference between going to SD or having them come here in the freezing cold. In the end, one play can easily mean another ring.

Quarterbacks aren't paid to tackle

Re: Defense? What defense!!!

3 of the INTs weren't Brady's fault, and Chad's drop didn't hurt them at all, they still drove in for 7.

I gotta disagree there. Brady was at fault for 2 of the 4. The one where he tried to throw it so hard it carried Danny Woodhead into the endzone and the one where he threw it and it hit off the D-lineman's helmet that let to Florence's TD. Both on him. And, in all honesty, the one he tried to thread to Gronk was also on Brady. It wasn't nearly high enough to ensure that only Gronk could get it.

Someone please explain it to me. I just don't get it. When a guy with a known pedigree for defense has had several seasons to build this defense while each year ticks away on the Brady clock and this is what we get. Why does the defense continually suck. At first, it was because they were old, then they were too young and rebuilding. I believe the Pats should be at the point where the defense is actually suppose to be good, if at least average. Why then do they seem to have gotten worse from even last year? I'm trying to find the silver-lining. I'm not worried about Brady or the offense one bit, but I'm beginning to think that McCourty is way overrated and even Mayo a little bit. Can someone please talk me away from the cliff?

If this defense doesn't turn it around as the season wears on, BB will be highly questioned and rightfully so. We had major pass rush issues the last 3 seasons and he's done little to address that. Cut Merriweather, Sanders, and Butler opting for JAG's in their place and the secondary looks awful right now. Alot of high picks were spent specifically on that secondary.

Re: Bill O'Brien Lost this Game

Hell yeah, let's fire him. Then we bring in someone to quickly teach us his offense and we'll be set.

Re: Bill O'Brien Lost this Game

It was a TEAM loss- they didn't deserve to win and they didn't-ok on to Oakland

Re: Bill O'Brien Lost this Game

The OC has nothing to do with zero sacks on defense. If the Patriots cannot sack Ryan Fitzpatrick, nothing Bill O'Brien does is going to matter.

BOB put TB in a bad spot, the offense became one dimensional like it has for a couple of years. But my next thread will be about the lack of a pass rush.

Re: Bill O'Brien Lost this Game

Bill O'Brien isn't the defensive coordinator.

My big concern is McCourty. Wow! Can we get Butler back please? Even he wasn't this bad.

How much man to man did BB use last year? I'm just wondering if it's a scheme thing with him. I can't believe the kid forgot how to play corner in one offseason.

Brady's not a linebacker. He didn't have the speed or position to make the tackle. I blame him for the INTs, not for the nontackle on that play. He couldn't have made it with his athleticism and skillset.

The bottom line to me is that no matter what came before, you need to be able to stop a team with the game tied in the fourth quarter.

Should the Patriots have been in that position? No. But, once they got there, that's where they were. And they gave up 79 yards in about 30 seconds.

That is simply unacceptable and you can't win with a defense like that in November and December. Fortunately, it's only September, but if that doesn't change, this team can't possibly go deep in the playoffs, assuming it makes them.

Re: Bill O'Brien Lost this Game

Sounds like the Jets fans blaming Schotty, Pathetic. BOB is an ok play caller. This loss goes on Brady. Maybe he had a lot of pressure to perform, but thats nothing new to him.

Then of course there was no pass rush today, and the corners couldn't cover for 3 seconds.

What the HELL? What happened I went to work with the pats up 21-0...

1) Defense was horrible -- no pass rush, did they even get one sack today? Also, this man coverage is not working. they will continually give up 300 yds passing with this combo of no pass rush and man coverage.

2) INT in red zone was THE play of the game. I was thinking if they could just get at least a FG, they probably could have wrapped up the game. Instead, Bills come back and win.

Poor effort all around after the 1st quarter.

Re: Bill O'Brien Lost this Game

Thats who i blame, the pats should have easily won this game up by 14 points. The Pats seemed to fear Fitzpatrick and the Buffalo offense, from what i have learned if your afraid of the others teams offense you mostly keep it on the ground to keep the other teams offense off the field. But what does BOB do he throws the ball, he throws the ball so much the Pats became one dimensional and the Bills knew what was coming and the rest is history. It wasn't Bradys fault, he was asked to do to much. BOB has had ONE, ONE good run in his three year career Nov. adn Dec. of last year. Then he returned to form in the playoffs and folded like a Cheap Suit in the playoffs, he Has to go.

I agree.

You're up 21-0 on the road against a good offense. You run the ball to run the clock down and take the crowd out of it.

Why were we still throwing at that point? There was almost ZERO run at that point. PATHETIC. We have Mankins, Waters, Light, Solder, and a stable of running backs that are more than capable of moving the chains. O'Brien was obviously going for stats (not wins) so he can land a HC job next year.

Why are we risking injury to Brady, Gronkowski, and Welker when we're up 21 points. and Brady cannot continue to throw 40+ times every game. He's human.... like Peyton Manning, Brett Favre, Mike Vick, and every other QB to ever play the game.

His arm/body is going to break down if he continues throwing this much every game.
