Re: The official Post game thread

Great game by Solder against a tough oppenent in Wake, Dowling was impressive also. The only negative imo was there were many times Henne had to much time to throw.

Re: the official post game thread

Wait a minute, was this not the exact score first game last year?

Re: the official post game thread

Good all around game except for passing coverage on D and safety play which has a way to go, except for Chung who was pretty good in rover.

My only issue is us getting cute on those goal line 3rd and short. I would rather we punch them in over getting silly with PA's (Welker's TD was good, but Fletcher's was way off).

I really don't want to see us get too far away from that smashmouth football mentality.

I'd like to see more Ridley on those 3rd and shorts on the GL. Still it's tough to argue with letting Brady sling the ball the way he was rolling tonight.

Re: the official post game thread

Posatives:

Dowling: For a rookie starting on the outside in his 1st game... i was very happy with his solid play. You saw tonight with Miami's rookie how an NFL offense can pick on a rookie.

Connoly: Great job stepping in for koppen and not missing a beat

Solder: Handled Wake all game except for that one Pressure where he was called for holding. The Sack Wake got Solder blocked him initially it was just a great 2nd effort by Wake

TE's: What can you say? better TE pair in the NFL? i can't think of any.

Negatives:

Defense: Came out a bit sloppy. We had some nice stops but once again went into our prevent D late in the game and were torched consistently.

Penalties: right or wrong we game alot of penalty yardage away today and it's not good enough for a team who aims to be perfect every time they step on the field.

In saying all of this, great to go into a division rival's home and come away with the W. TB was on fire again today, that INT was a freak of nature and not his fault. I have high hopes that this defense can grow to become a very solid unit... just need to solidify the middle of the field.

Solid 1st game guys

Re: the official post game thread

Mcourty had a rough night and hasnt looked like himself this pre season. I hope its not the sophomore slump.

Waters held his won and only had a false start.

I wish Vereen and Ridley played a bit, but Woody and BJGE picked up where they left off last season before the playoff meltdown.

Ocho struggled tonight.

Big test coming for the NE secondary next Sunday. Rivers aint Chad Henne.

Re: the official post game thread

The scary thing about this much offense is how little Ocho had to do with this, and the fact that Price is out.

What will happen once Ocho gets into rhythm, and Price returns to take the top off the D?

Re: the official post game thread

I though BB was moving him to Safety.

Not if tonight was any indication. His size/skillset are optimal at CB...especially against these larger receivers like Marshall, Megatron, etc.

...and we get all our young running backs involved. The possibilities are endless.

Teams won't be able to properly game plan against us. With that many weapons, it is so easy to change things up depending on the opponent that other teams won't be able to pick up tendencies and exploit them. Of course, that is if the O-line can protect Brady properly like they did tonight.

i think we'll have to get used to Ocho struggling for the 1st half of this seasn... he had no pre season and our o is all about trust. I have high hopes he will come good.

Unfortunately, BOB with too many weapons will result to craziness, like throwing it to Flecther. I think BOB is like a kid in at Toy'r'us and just does not know the toy he wants.

BB said post game that this team is No where near a good team right now. While I don't agree with that after tonights performance I do think a lot of work needs to be done on defense especially, they looked a lot like last year as another poster has said just with a beef upped line. One concern, Henne had a few big runs, we have a lot of big guys up front and when our backers and secondary are all in coverage what do we do with a scrambling qb such as Vick when we play them? Anyway I'm concerned with the secondary but big big props to the oline tonight they looked great and Connolly came in and was amazing.

I don't see the issue there. It's not exactly shocking that the Patriots have a pass to a LB in the repertoire.

Well, it at least brought back some memories

If - -and it's a big if with a hamstring -- but if Price can get on the field soon, I wouldn't be surprised to see him have more of an impact. I'm not feeing too confident about Otto Cinque; I now the drill about the short pre-season and all, but the guy's also an experienced veteran. Not giving up on him by any means, and I'm rooting for him, but he has a lot to prove at this point. Meanwhile, the offense is pretty good. And, oh yeah, you still have Ridley and Vereen to mix in.

Slater's taken that job
