I think we really came on a scouting feel of the Steelers. Watch as things change in the second half. Now we know what they are doing and we will stop them.
2) this is what happens when a team cuts 4 of its top 8 DBs
3) on the first Steelers TD, the closest Patriots to the play were Ihedigbo and Molden. If those are the guys that we're counting on, then I think that pretty well explains the problem.
The first Steelers TD should have been called back for the illegal pick that Wallace threw. Without that pick, Ihedigbo makes the tackle on Moore well short of the goal line..
I think the Steelers had a perfect opportunity to really strip any and all momentum. But they haven't thus far. They're getting allot of yards, killing allot of clock and marching up and down the field. But are only up 7.
Would love to see half-time adjustments really mess with them and shift the game's momentum to the Pats.
What I have found interesting is that Molden has been playing on the Outside receivers and Arrington on the SLOT receiver most of the game so far..
What I don't understand was how Belichick didn't have someone on Miller to start the game. The guy has been an excellent TE in his career. That's gotta be on the coach..
As for firing the DBs coach, the guy is in his 1st year. Not really his fault that the players aren't executing. On the Brown TD, Molden was too deep and Arrington showed he didn't know where Sanders was because he bit on Ben's fake to the right..
Plus they haven't been on the field at all. The last drive was looking good until Vollmer effed up. We have a chance now to come out with a good drive in the 3rd and turn the game around, very important drive coming up.
That sack Vollmer gave up is a perfect example of why people are putting too much blame on the lack of a deep threat. If Brady had a deep threat on that play, it wouldn't have made a difference. The two stupid false starts from Mankins didn't come from a lack of a deep threat. Faulk bobbling the ball on the direct snap that gave the Steelers a half a second to adjust wasn't because of a lack of deep threat. Branch dropping a ball right to him wasn't because of a lack of a deep threat. Hernandez dropping a ball wasn't either. Brady not seeing wide open receivers weren't either.
There was some bad execution on some of those drives.
If we can get a TD on this drive it will be huge. If it's a 3 and out or something, we could be in trouble real fast. This first drive could make or break the rest of this game.
