The Official Patriots vs Jets POST Game Thread

Belichick:
"Tom is probably the best leader I’ve ever been around so I wouldn’t be too critical"

Stop ball washing. Time for Tommy to grow up.

Tom Brady may be the greatest QB ever to play the game of football.

This is one of the rare occurrences where ballwashing is totally acceptable.

As I've said several times now, unless you know what happened, how many times they've gone over it, and what kind of mistakes are made I don't think it's fair to judge a couple/few over the top reactions.

It only happened a couple/few times. You're acting like every single play and missed drop was a total meltdown. It's been addressed. We should move on.

I for one, appreciate his perfectionism--even if he may have been a little rough on the rookies a couple of times tonight.

Our special teams continues to stink up the place--we desperately need a spark there to flip the field once in a while. We have neglected that aspect of the game for years. Why the heck is Blount returning kickoffs? I hate how NE just ignores it since they think Brady will drop 50 every week.

You're obviously very emotional yourself tonight.

Claiming that TFB doesn't show leadership skills at all is quite possibly the craziest thing I've ever heard on this forum...ever.

It was b/c of Brady that they won last week, and the success of the team in general has been built around Brady's leadership for yrs.

We have no idea how many times they've practiced those plays throughout the past couple of months/this week/whatever. Idiotic mistakes aren't going to be tolerated on this team. It's one of the reasons why we've remained so successful.

They were far more successful when they played like a team and supported each other. Would you honestly want to work with someone who acted like that? Is that really the way to get the best out of the young receivers?

I don't disagree but that does not make him a leader. I know folks here are upset by what I am saying but it is true.

No, it's not. It's garbage. And, yes, I have been around professional teams and locker rooms, and I have played at lower levels (College +), and I do know a little bit about the topic of leadership, at every (non-Olympics) level of sports.

You don't seem to know anything, at all, about leadership, and you're taking one snapshot and blowing it far beyond any reasonable proportions. The fivehead used to routinely throw his teammates under the bus, but he was still a leader who commanded the respect of his locker room.

BTW, to take it out of football, John Lackey routinely displays horrible body language when his teammates screw up behind him, yet his teammates all still love him.

Why is Blount returning kickoffs, especially with Washington being active.

I was thinking the same thing. I was relieved to see that he was ok.

Is he OK? Haven't heard anything.

Why are people saying he was showboating? He was gonna go out and saw a lane and got a few more yards. When he saw the Jets closing on him that's when he spun out of bounds. Hardly showboating.

I would like someone to give us an answer to that as well. I'm drawing a blank, but I am not a personnel decision guru by any stretch.

I disagree and if its not stopped they won't go anywhere. Perfectionism should be focused on self improvement. He is a senior player who should show leadership, not what he showed tonight. He owes his teammates an apology for the way he acted. If this doesn't change, bad things lie ahead.

I am actually quite optimistic about the team if he does man up and realize he has to bring these guys along. One of the reasons they are in this hole is their total lack of development of young receivers in the last 6 or 7 years. Again, what young receiver is going to thrive under that leadership?

This your first Pats game? Brady's been like that his whole career, he's treating these rookies the way he treats veterans, if you mess up, he gets pissed, if he messes up, he gets pissed, he's been like that since day 1. He's one of the most successful QB's of all time, Id prefer to let him do what he does.

Being a fiery leader and showing up the kids constantly in front of the whole world are two different things. As troy brown just said. You wont treat your own kids like that. They kids and he is 13 yr vet and if he loses control and shows up people like this , they arent going to get any better. Again as troy said, BB handled it great after the game, waved to the crowd, was chipper in the presser about teams attitude etc.
I know everyone has a different personality but Iam not a big fan of constantly showing up your co workers. And the the EZ play where edelman ran a wrong route, he scremed at at him leaving the field and then watched the replay and again screamed at him. not really a high point of his game .No sense of encouragement for thompkins after his tough non catch either. And he admitted it in the post game.

I'm glad that he admitted going over the top a couple/few times tonight, but what about his patience on the other 20 or so plays (at least) that didn't work out due to mistakes?

Let's not overreact too much to 2-3 times when he was pissed. Actually, the replay that they keep showing where it continued to the bench was the exact same play, so all of this talk is likely about him freaking out one major time. Big deal...

It's Edelman's 5th yr in the offense. If he's still making boneheaded rookie mistakes then he deserves to be yelled at. He's getting paid good money to play a sport. If he were getting yelled at for overcooking the burger at McDonald's then the criticism would be warranted.

Remember when he blew a gasket on the sidelines vs the steelers a couple of yrs ago on SNF and then went on to pummel them ? I loved that. He gathered the team around and yelled at all of them. Today wasn't like that.

Yeah, Gronkowski and Hernandez totally sank down because of his primadonna ego.

I'll give Mangold the benefit of the doubt as I've never heard of any claims that he's prone to dirty or cheap shots.

So you're not from like this planet?

Mangold is a nut-twisting d-bag. Don't get me wrong, I'd take him. But he's on the 'dirty' side. Did you think he just lost his mind for a second?

First TB isn't a leader amd now Mangold is getting the benefit of the doubt. I was be drunk-lucinating.

Even if he was pristine and lily white he doesn't get a pass for that.

I agree with everyone that Brady shouldn't consistently yell at receivers. He basically said the same thing. It's part of his personality and will always be. Remember his argument on the sideline with Bill O'Brien a few years back? He seemed to be in the wrong then too. The thing is, he admits it. And I don't think these few incidences should make him a 'bad leader'.

Ok, you're just trolling us. Even the new age idiots wouldn't buy this crap, given that Brady's been the the AFCCG or SB in more than half his seasons as a starting QB.

I'll correct you. Dobson dropped at least two balls against... I don't remember, UCF? I posted the video here when the Patriots drafted him.

Fair enough. That info was from a write up i read so it obviously was wrong. From what i read the guy didn't drop a ball last year.
