Well, isn't that what you are supposed to do is stop the first down. It was good coverage and just a catch on a pass where the receiver had to go down to catch and came up with it.
It was better than the typical bad third-and-long play, because at least someone was making a play on the ball, plus they did actually stop the first down. Not what you want, since it's better to put them in a position where going for it isn't even a viable option, not to mention that hsould have made it a gimme field goal. But not a god-awful play either.

Always appreciate watching game next to someone with a scout's eye, like @FieldYates. Points out wings on MIA FG attempt flared out for fake
Defense stepping up huge in this game. Getting a lot of pressure and sacks on Tannehill so far. It was only poetic justice that the FG snap went off the holder's face. LOL. 3 points averted by Miami miscues!!

Defense is really hanging in there, but you get the sense the Dolphins will be able to figure some things out as the game goes forward. Offense needs a big play or two to stretch the field.
Throwing short of the sticks on third down sometimes works but it really isn't a long-term strategy.
Looks like they are going to be relying on second-half offense, but the offense in general looks back to the pre-Gronk offense. No rhythm and and no real great options on third and more than 1.
Again with the trips right. Working pretty well. Would be real interesting to see why the game plan was set up that way, can't figure out what the weakness is that we're trying to exploit.
I haven't been watching closely enough to say for sure, but I'd assume they're going after Nolan Carroll. He kinda sucks.
Pats are manhandling the Dolphins' D up the middle. Not a strength of ours by any stretch, and I didn't think it was their D's weakness either. It would seem like we're just seeing the effect of Paul Soliai getting hurt, but it was happening even while he was in.

First it was good coverage. The receiver had to go down for the ball. If the pass was on target, it would probably have been broken up. An underthrow by Tannehill actually saved them.
But the first priority on any 3rd down is stopping converting a first down. Any time it isn't converted, it isn't a bad play.
