When did every run that doesn't go for a first down become a failure?

Same is true of passes.

I'm going to have to be blunt here and say that you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. I know that this is where you'll shift into the world's greatest pedant and claim that I'm self-evidently wrong somehow, and I'd rather have a headbutting contest with a brick wall than do that whole song and dance, so I'm just going to drop it here. Everyone who knows anything about football knows the right course of action here.

Be as blunt as you want. I'll do the same. You were wrong about that 2nd down play and now you're making an ass of yourself.

How was I wrong? When did every run that doesn't go for a first down become a failure? It ran another 40 seconds off the clock mid way through the fourth quarter of a game that we're winning by two scores.

In that scenario you just have to go for it after your next TD anyway. So you didn't really reduce risk by not going for it now.

You are limiting the game to one score instead of two. Only go for two when absolutely necessary
