Reports that the Patriots want to trade out of round 1
Plus
Reports that the Jaguars want to trade back up into round 2
Equals
Theoretical possibility that the Patriots could end up drafting at #36, instead of #32
Thanks for the kind thought. I think when fnordie has a 2nd thought about it, he'll realize it was an unreasonable "dislike" and remove it. Given all the other thoughts I have that can easily be disagreed with or disliked, I'm have trouble seeing how this one set someone off. Believe me, by Sunday I will have said SOMETHING that's gonna piss someone off.I gave you a like to counter the clown who clicked dislike on your post without there being any real justification for such a move. However, the draft is today, so this is not just draft news. It's also current Patriots-related events. So the mod consistency should be fine with this staying in the main lounge.*

@JayGlazer: Scoopage: Agent for LSU's La'el Collins trying to pull him from this draft allowing him time to clear his name then enter Supplemental Draft
Open question to everyone:
I'd be excited if we took him but how would we use him? We are already 3 deep at DE, and 3 deep at LB when just two usually play.
How would BB use this 230 lb. pass rusher? Seems interesting.
I'd love to draft Gregory. He's not a big dumbass like some people make him out to be, despite the marijuana situation reflecting poorly on him. (FWIW: He supposedly scored the highest on the Wonderlic for players at his position). Assuming the Patriots stay at #32, I hope they draft him if he's available.
"I'd say Von Miller's better than him now," said an NFC personnel director. "Gregory's got more talent than Clay Matthews but isn't as good because of the way Clay plays. Not as big as Ziggy Ansah or (Jason) Pierre-Paul, but he's better."
At the same time, 20 of the scouts (one declined the request) were asked to identify which player among the top defensive linemen and rush linebackers would have the best chance to bust.
Gregory was the runaway choice, drawing 11½ votes to 2½ for Ray, two for Beasley and one each for Arik Armstead, Carl Davis, Mario Edwards and Jordan Phillips.
Seven scouts voted for Gregory both as the No. 1 pass rusher and as the No. 1 most-likely player to bust.
"I don't think it's the best chance to bust," an NFL personnel director said. "He's got no chance (to succeed). That (combine drug test) is just the tip of the iceberg. This guy is not a bad guy. He just has problems.
"I think he will (slide) if anybody's done any kind of homework on him."
In the NFL Media interview, Gregory said he first smoked marijuana at Arizona Western Community College in 2011 in an attempt to cope with anxiety. He enrolled there after failing to qualify academically at Purdue even though his score of 28 on the 50-question Wonderlic intelligence test tied for fourth highest among the 20 leading linebackers.
"We had him in," another executive said. "This kid is a great kid talking to. He's very articulate. Two-parent home. He's just got some issues, has a hard time dealing with stress. He's probably off a lot of boards. I wouldn't take him."
Screw Collins. And his agent. I hope someone gets him in the 6th. (NE - if this story is bogus)
Once bitten, Fnord. Do you want to use a 1st round pick (former projection) on someone who police say isn't a suspect ? Isn't "not a suspect" the way you trick criminals to talk ?
I really wanted Lael Collins to fall to the Patriots but saw little to no chance of it happening, now it's most likely going to happen and they can't touch him. I think the only way out of this situation for Collins is to withdraw from this draft and try to get his name cleared before the supplemental draft, where he would be taken immediately if his name was cleared. I don't see how any team can take him with a murder investigation hanging over his head and no chance of clearing his name today.
I have the opposite opinion n pray that they don't. It's not because he admitted to smoking some weed but because he's not strong enough to hold the edge on running plays! When Nebraska played Wisconsin, Gordon ran wild. Was it all on Gregory's shoulders? No but he certainly didn't help the cause at allI'd love to draft Gregory.
