You're absolutely right. Which is also exactly why the NFL is going to give a "never mind" or "we did not find sufficient evidence of tampering to support punishing New England" verdict on this whole thing.

Do I want that to happen? Hell no! But it is what I fully expect will happen.

Win or lose the Patriots will still be the team that is hated. It's the miserable projecting all their dissatisfaction on whatever. And of course they're going to hate us, we're the team that keeps kicking their butts. Maybe we as Pats fans should fogetaboutit. Or better yet, embrace it. Yes indeed, we flattened those balls flatter than mamma's pizza. And then we went on to win the Super Bowl. It made that win even better. You know their mantra, They can't win unless they cheat. Oops. We are the fans of the best franchise in the history of the game. So who gives a fat rats ass what they think or what the outcome of deflategate is. They're irrelevant. Years ago, I made my peace with it. People are going to hate just because. It started in 2004 because of the success the team enjoyed and BB's gruff demeanor started to wear on the casual fan. People can deal with that. 49ers. Raiders. Bears. Cowboys. Everyone hates a perennial winner. It's natural. Polian caused a stir with his *****ing about the clutching and grabbing rubbish at the league meetings. That started the snowball of bad PR for the Pats in the eyes of the causal fan.

Then Spygate. Now Deflategate and Deceptiongate. Everyone on this board knows the truth...that this whole PR crap is the result of a weak commissioner and league who did absolutely nothing to protect the brand of one of the league's model franchises.

It is what it is. All the team can do is continue to win and in order to continue to be a burr in the league's saddle, continue to kick ass and take names.

I would just add that the passivity of the owner of the Pats in response to the outrageous actions of the POS commissioner as he destroyed the reputation of his team may have some responsibility for the condition of the Pats now.

That would seem to make sense, but here's the problem. All the people who benefit the most from Goodell's reign of terror, are Bob Kreaft's fellow owners. Remember as long as the Pats reign supreme THEY are the ones who have to face angry fans who are demanding that THEY produce similar types of excellence.

Jerry Jones might seem to be a likely partner for Kraft, but Cowboy fans have to be wondering what's happened the last decade, and again, the Pats are an ugly constant reminder of what it used to be like for Cowboy fans. So seeing the Pats brought back to the pack would be a huge relief for Jetty.

The NFL is a an entity that HATES anomalies, and the Patriots have been an anomaly for close to two decades now, and they would like to stamp it out. So while I am sure there are several owners who will gladly commiserate with Kraft, there aren't going to be many if any, who will help him fight this injustice

Exactly - - when the league, which is responsible for adjudication and discipline, publicly TROLLS the team that it is judging, then there is an unacceptable situation.

How about if, during AH's trial, the judge cracked jokes about Hernandez' home security system to the Boston Globe?

That's because AH is in court, I guess.

The NFL seems to be playing both sides of the street in terms of various "gates."

If it's "just a rules issue" they appear to feel it's okay to leak quotes to the media. In doing so, they can keep people talking about their product. That's a conflict of interest. All the "sources say" from day 1 of this spectacle should have been refuted by the NFL immediately with a "you didn't get that from anybody working for the NFL. We don't comment on ongoing investigations."

But it's not important enough for that, right? In fact - here's the conflict - it's better for them if people are speculating and building false narratives. I was actually surprised at first to find that the 11 out of 12 balls were underinflated thing was unsourced... then not actually surprised when I considered the unsource.
