The league cracking down on excessive contact in minicamp - good rule?

I agree with Zippo here if it is a rule then everyone should follow it.

Either way it seems like there is enough to do without excessive contact in minicamp. I do not beleive there needs to be a lot of hitting then.

Who would be more likely to know if there "needs to be a lot of hitting"?

A. You
B. A Player
C. An NFL Head Coach

Gene Upshaw is the head of the Players Union, not the NFL. It doesn't matter what the NFL made over a period of time; the NFLPA doesn't get a cut of that.

I believe part of the new CBA is that the players will receive about 60% (or a number around there) of the league's total revenue.

But not the NFLPA. The NFLPA operates on union dues.

I doubt Ted Johnson would agree with that today.

A completely separate issue. Injured vs hurt is an age old debate in football. The issue of whether or not to have contact at mini camps is not even related.

If the players don't want to hit at mini camp, they could always play baseball.
