The truth hurts.

Yeah, my roommate treats it like a numbers game too and finds success (there's always a new girl around the house it seems). Thing is, he's also 6 feet tall with social skills, whereas I'm 5'6 and have thousands of posts on Patsfans, so I think there are also confounding variables at play.

I'm already a washed up, boring engineer at 23. Your story is still encouraging though. I wish I had interests that were remotely social...or interest in anything remotely social...

Thanks for rallying around me, guys. I'll probably continue to do nothing while complaining on the internet.

Glad to see #10 at practice.
Damn, I wish I was 23 today. Those dating apps would’ve been a freaking goldmine for me. Don’t sweat it man, you’ve got it good! The best I had back in the day was MySpace and Facebook. All people wanted to do was just add friends and decorate their f***ing profile during the MySpace days. Facebook was in its infancy stage and not sure what the purpose was yet.

In terms or your height, most women are short so it’s mind boggling why they prefer to date men over 6 feet. I’m about 6’3” and would feel like a pedifile dating a woman under 5’5”. Why the hell does a woman want to look up at a man that is almost a foot taller than them?

For your own well being, start working out and eat healthy. If not already.

Unless you already dress well, maybe change your wardrobe. Maybe change your hairstyle.

But whatever you do, don’t continue to sit on the sidelines.

Carpe diem

Thread got me pretty hyped for Gordon.

Now the hype has moved on to a girl with hairy nipples.

I love this forum.

Me too. Here, anything can happen and nothing is beyond the pale. No outrage is too great. Your lucky they didn’t convince you of lizard aliens ruling the world from Antarctica.

Apologies in advance for posting Josh Gordon information in this thread, as I see much of it is about virtually everything in the universe except Josh Gordon.

Anyway, here’s an interesting article that’s worth a read. It was published in 2012 when the Browns selected him in the supplemental draft:

Receiver-starved Browns gamble on Josh Gordon in Supplemental Draft

Of course, that was in 2010.

Gordon has not played a competitive down of football since the Texas Bowl on Dec. 29, 2010, and he comes with the dreaded "character issues" label attached to him. Back in October 2010, Gordon and a then-Baylor teammate were arrested after falling asleep in a Taco Bell drive-thru. Police found marijuana in the car the two were in, though Gordon was not driving. Less than a year later, Gordon was suspended indefinitely for a violation of team rules; he later revealed that he had failed a drug test.

Gordon transferred to Utah, then changed his mind and entered the Supplemental Draft -- but too late for the 2011 version, forcing him to sit out the entire year. The Browns were still willing to roll the dice.

Sound familiar? Wow - I didn’t realized this happened in college too. He has basically missed at least part of every season, except for 2012 and 2013, in the last eight years, all related to behavioral/substance issues. That’s unbelievable.

SI's Tony Pauline reported during Gordon's workout that the ex-Baylor receiver had passed an unannounced drug test in recent days and that his Wonderlic score was comparable to what NFL teams want from quarterback prospects. Between those facts and Gordon's high upside, Cleveland felt he was worth the gamble.

A Wonderlic score that is typical of QB prospects is really good and something you usually don’t see with ultra athletic wide receivers. He is an intelligent guy. That doesn’t guarantee he will learn the playbook quickly but makes me more optimistic.

Have to keep it convolluted. Info about Gordon in this thread would be exactly what the garopolites would be expecting

Gordon has had drug and alcohol issues since middle school I believe.

Another apology post....

What are the odds Gordon makes it to the facility in 5 ish hours or there is a “released by the Patriots” notfication on our phones?

This should be a running, daily post.

Coincidentally a member of my extended family just passed away at the age of 30; it was his second drug overdose in a three day period (two days before he was taken in an ambulance, got back home, and did it again one final time.). He had been a serious drug addict since he was a teenager and basically messed up his life over and over and over again. They tried too many rehab clinics to list, therapies, Methadone, live-in supervision, and in the end, he ultimately came to terms with the idea that he would always be an addict no matter what, after many tries at getting sober.

I won’t cast that same same shadow over Josh Gordon without knowing his situation or character. What I do know is that expectations, fame, success, or money are unlikely to deter someone who is deeply addicted to drugs to stop using them. Gordon has had a lot at stake for many years but has not been able to shake it. I hope that he figures out a way to stay sober, though being in the public spotlight and having expectations from millions of people may not be the best thing for him. Many people see addiction as a choice or something you can overcome if you are motivated or have something to live for. It’s a lot more powerful than that. I really hope, beyond just being a Patriots fan, that he is able to find the power within and that a change of environment and perhaps a new support system will help him not just for his football career but for the the rest of his life.

If he does relapse, I really hope the reaction isn’t along the lines of “How was this not the perfect situation for him? This was the opportunity of a lifetime!” There is already such a misundersanding about substance abuse out there, and these sentiments just make people more ashamed to seek help since they think they have more control over it than they actually do.

I’m sorry as hell bro.

I know the feeling
