Sanchez has improved a lot this season, which is more indicative of how bad his rookie year was, but still they are playoff bound again. If there is nothing else at least he has been a winner so far in his short career.

No, if nothing else, he's been carried by his teammates so far in his short career. That's not the same thing. Sanchez has been one of the rare players who's a top 5 pick taken by a decent, or better, team. Had Favre not hurt himself the year prior to the Sanchez pick, the Jets would have been a playoff team. Sanchez was just plugged into that.

Pats have been the favorites for the entire decade, hasn't done them much good lately.

The Jets were supposed to be one and done last year too.

The Jets were a better team last year. They had the #1 defense and the #1 running game. This year, they are average at best in all phases of the game other than kick return part of the game. You can score on the Jets. You can shut down their offense. Last year, you couldn't score on them.

The Pats haven't won a Super Bowl since 2004, but they are clearly the superior team to the Jets this year eventhough the Jets were built to win it all this year and the Pats are in a rebuilding period.

The Jets could go all the way, but they haven't been able to beat any good teams other the Steelers who were missing Polomalu (their defense isn't the same without him) and Heath Miller (the Jets biggest weakness this year on defense is defending TEs over the middle). I think if those two players were playing, the Jets wouldn't have beating a good team since week 2.

The other thing is the Pats are the favorites because other people tout them as such. When the Jets are the favorites it's usually because someone on the team - Rex or Revis, for example - goes shooting their mouth off to anyone with a microphone. The Pats generally try not to write a check their butt can't cash.

Jets run away with the divsion??? What were you smoking. At the height of the NY hype machine it was an at beast 50-50 spilit as to who would win and I never heard anyone who thought the Jets would run away with anything.

As much as we love to make fun of the Jets and the fans, that is unfortunate. I do seem to recall there being some pretty decent football discussions at JI a few years ago (along with of course more than a fair share of over the top homer threads too.)

It's kind of ironic though that when the Jets go from a pair of 4-12 seasons in the space of three years, to just their second stretch of three consecutive 9+ win seasons in a row in franchise history, that the actual football talk disappears.

I guess it's a case of too many fans emulating their coach; more interested in bluster and bravado than X's and O's.

Yes, it is definitely the latter. Jets suckitude is an eternal constant, existing from the first protoplasms to the end of time. Long after Sexy Rexy and the rest of us have shuffled off this mortal coil, Jets suckitude will exist, like relativity itself, constant and eternal. You don't have to see it, hear it or taste it (snicker, snicker ), but it's there. Always.
