The Jets suck (merged)

Part of the Jets suckage is the over-the-top silliness of the fan base. Their homers are so deluded that one would think psychiatric help is necessary.

x2...actually x143

I know its hard to imagine for the Patriot elite but making the playoffs is still an accomplishment, no matter how you make it.

Just ask the other team in NY how hard it is.

With that said, are Pats fans taking pleasure in the Big Blue meltdown going on?

Big time. My dad is 66 and a die hard Giants fan (that was the home team back in the 50s). Hes not happy one bit.

Out of respect, I'm keeping my mouth shut though. He didn't say a word after SB42 so I'm going easy on the old man.

I sat through 1-15. I understand full well that making the playoffs is an accomplishment. The Jets still suck and the Jets fan base is still the worst, most deluded, fan base in the NFL.

You mean the one that's won 3 Super Bowls since the Jets last had a sniff?

I am, but that's because I don't want the Patriots facing the Giants or Saints in the Super Bowl.

haha I have been taking some immense delight as well. The Giants fans are not happy at all that for once the Jets were taking media spotlight in town (For the worse it seems). All year long after every defeat or close win they were talking about how the Giants are the "Real team of NY" and would go on to spew hatred that would rival the worst stuff on this board. Anyway, it was just funny to see so much hate coming from them since I have never had a problem with the Giants and of course was a big fan during the superbowl.

With that said watching the past two weeks Giants games in rooms full of Giant fans was entertaining.

Yada, yada, yada I know the fan base represents itself poorly so I won't even really address that.

What I don't get is the Giants phobia Pats fans have. If they were playing now I would bet a small fortune on the Pats, no way they lose, the Giants secondary falls apart under pressure. I mean the Packers annihilated them.

If I were you I would want a rematch so they could be embarrassed in front of the world and prove how much a fluke 2007 was.

Saw my nephew this Christmas ... he's a Giants fan living in Philly. I said that and he said no way ... the Eagles are still the worst. Maybe we should start a poll.

giants.... jets.... when push comes to shove, NY fans are just that, NY fans. EVERY jets fan I know (several of them) backed the giants and not the pats in SB42. So as much as one team's fan base "despises" the other... it 's mostly BS. All IMO and from what I've observed.

It's not a phobia, really. It's matchups. The way to beat Manning is occasional pressure combined with disguised coverages and hard bumps on his receivers. The way to beat Brees is to take away his deep routes and first reads. The way to beat Brady is to pressure him with 4 rushers while knocking his receivers offstride.

In the entire NFL, nobody has been able to handle the Patriots O-line the way the Giants were in that Super Bowl. Part of that was Neal going down early in the game. Part of that was the tight end problems. Part of that was Mankins just stinking out the joint that game. Part of that was Brady's ankle injury. But, no matter what the "parts" were, it happened. I'd rather just avoid tempting fate.

I loved Ryan immediately saying amidst his post game giggling about tip-toeing backwards into the playoffs that Sanchez will rest this week. :rocker:

Great! Tell the men it is effectively a bye week, kick back, relax, wait for the playoffs. Have another cheeseburger!
Clock management, replay '"strategy", play calling, general loose cannon atmosphere, sideshow of the week, got to love that head jester's fancy dance moves.

But they may be catching on in NY:
Jets' loss raises eyebrows about Ryan
"As it turned out, the Jets wound up playing a fifth exhibition game yesterday. After watching Ryan’s performance yesterday, it may be time to wonder if it’s time to start worrying about the head coach. Ryan — what’s the gentlest way to put this? — lost his mind...
While Ryan was already deep into his postgame remarks, he might have gladly entertained a question or two on the matter of feet. Just to change the subject to something pleasant."

Steve Serby at the NY Post is often a fun read, when NY suckage is dialed up.
On the New York Football Blues:
It's crisis time for the Giants — and everyone's at fault

"The Good Ship Coughlin is sinking in this blizzard of ineptitude at the worst possible time. The Giants, disgraceful 45-17 losers, put the L-A-M-B in Lambeau last night...
With so much at stake, it was the Packers who showed up as Lambeau Leapers. The Giants showed up as Lambeau Lepers."
Times are good.

Happy, safe holidays to all!
And, Sincere thanks, to New York's greenest for the Christmas Present of the year:

I'm not. I respect Tom Coughlin. The New Jersey Green Beans are another matter entirely. Jabba Wrecks, the bi-curious laughing perv who offers his wife up to all takers, is on a direct course to losing his next two games. Rest Sanchez? Play him? Rest other players? Play them? Pass rush sucks? Who cares? Make a joke, have a laugh, eat another cheeseburger. Kick back and smell someone's feet. Only a few thousand PSLs left to sell. It's all good, fatboy.

The fairer comparison is how is Sanchez compared to Henne, Ryan, Freeman, Bradford and Flacco. I would say he is middle of the pack in that group. Would be nice to see him elevate his game again come playoff time.

Sanchez is easily the second-worst QB on that list. When the best that you can say for a top-5 pick is that he's better than a second rounder who's a disappointment in his own right, it's probably time to admit that he isn't what you thought he was. Sanchez just isn't that good, and probably never will be.

Hes been great this year but this is also a guy with a long college resume who was able to sit and learn behind one of the greats for 3 years. Not to mention the extra full season of starting experience working with Belichick. The fact its even a comparison is a compliment to Sanchez.

say what??? Ryan should not even be on that list as he's a top 10 QB. and for the rest, I would easily take all of them over Sanchez (well, if I had to choose between Henne and Sanchez, I would probably try and get McNabb). I forsee Sanchez following the Leinhart path. He's peaking right now and this is the best we'll see.

A funny stat I just saw. Jets fans love to trash the Pats' defense, but guess what? The Pats have given up 0.6 points per game more than the Jets with only one game to go. The Jets are giving up 19.8 PPG and the Pats are giving up 20.4 PPG. The strength of the Jets is their defense and the defense is the biggest weakness of the Patriots. No wonder why the Pats are Super Bowl favorites and the Jets are likely one and done.

Oh BTW, Sexy Rexy has decided to go back to teach the fundamentals to the defense going into week 17. Nothing like going back to training camp drills a week before the playoffs start.

“To get back to who our defense is, we need to practice,” he said. “We’re going to go back to individual drills, fundamental drills, and really hone that, which is kind of unusual at this time of year. We really have to, because that’s how we’re going to get better. There’s no magic call.”

Ryan said he has noticed fundamentals slipping, and cited quarterback Mark Sanchez’s recent strong play after working on his technique as an example of the effect going back to the basics can have.

He noted defenders putting their hands on receivers, playing the proper leverage and getting off blocks when defending the run as examples of techniques that have slipped. The results turned up in several ways Sunday: the Jets yielded five pass plays of more than 20 yards, couldn’t get consistent pressure on Bears quarterback Jay Cutler and allowed 113 yards on 19 carries to Matt Forte, the first 100-yard rusher they have allowed this season.

Communication woes, an issue all season, showed up in a big way when the Jets only had 10 players on the field for Devin Hester’s 25-yard touchdown catch — one of three Bears touchdowns in 7:14 in the third quarter.

Jets defense is missing its swagger, according to coach | NJ.com

Sanchez has improved a lot this season, which is more indicative of how bad his rookie year was, but still they are playoff bound again. If there is nothing else at least he has been a winner so far in his short career.

He's been carried by an elite defense, just like Flacco. If the pressure was on them to carry a team alone, it'd be a disaster. Thats why I like Matt Ryan better than both of them.

When he was drafted that team was nothing. Flacco is decent at best. Sanchez is half of Flacco to me, honestly.

Must suck to be a Jest fan.

PATRIOTS OWN THE EAST!

Pats have been the favorites for the entire decade, hasn't done them much good lately.

The Jets were supposed to be one and done last year too.

Defense has not been elite this year. Your Pats fan pal just posted how your D is almost on the same PPG level.

Atlantas D is actually pretty damn good.

Based on the post above about points per game I thought I'd take a look at the 2009 Jets. What I discovered was a team that won nine games but had a healthy 7.0 ppg differential. This was entirely because their defense, it pains me to say, was great.

This year their offensive output remains the same because they have thrown the ball better to compensate for a poorer running game. Their defense has fallen off to say the least. I doubt they will make any kind of run in the playoffs. Last year they underperformed until the playoffs. This year they have overperformed so far.
